CHANDIGARH,12.4.2024-In a major breakthrough, Crime Branch, Chandigarh Police got a major success by arresting/apprehending one artisan involved in gold bangle theft. A Team of Crime Branch as per direction of Sh. Ketan Bansal, IPS, SP/Crime & HQ, close guidance of DSP Crime Sh. Udaypal Singh and under the supervision of Inspector Ashok Kumar arrested one accused namely Soumik Dass involved in theft.

Brief Facts:-

FIR No. 62 dated 11.4.2024 U/S 381 added 411 IPC PS-36, U.T, Chandigarh was registered on the complaint of Pintu Medha S/o Sh. Shankar Medha r/o # 227 KSM Road Rajpura Town Distt. Patiala regarding the theft of gold lady bangle from jeweller shop SCO No. 34 Sector-23, Chandigarh by his servant namely Soumik Dass s/o Sh. Khus Chander Dass r/o Babui Para Dakshan Paras, Singur Distt. Hugli West Bangal.

Apprehension of accused

On 11.4.2024 acting upon the secret information Soumik Dass was arrested from back side ISBT Sector-17, Chandigarh and case property i.e. one gold bangle recovered from his possession.

Investigation so far: - 

 From the investigation it came to light that he was appointed as Artisan on jeweller shop on 10.4.2024 by the owner of shop and on the same day he stolen the lady bangle from the shop and try to escape from Chandigarh. 
The investigation of the case is in progress. Accuse Soumik was produced in the hon’ble court and sent to judicial custody.
