Governor & CM felicitate people on occasion of Raksha Bandhan
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu have congratulated the people of the State on the joyous occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
The Governor in his message said the festival not only plays a pivotal role in strengthening the bond of love but also in creating a cordial atmosphere in the society as a whole.
The Chief Minister said that the ‘Raksha Bandhan’ symbolizes the love and affection between brother and sister and strengthens the pious bonds of brotherhood. He said this occasion was an opportunity to promote peace, harmony and brotherhood in the State and the country as well.

CM expresses grief over death of six persons in road accident
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has mourned the deaths of six persons in a road accident in Chanwas area of Tissa Sub Division in Chamba district last night.
The Chief Minister directed the district administration to provide all possible to the affected families.
Shri. Sukhu prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss.

Transport Department earns Rs. 1236.53 crore in 16 months: Dy. CM
The transport department has achieved a new milestone as it has earned a revenue of Rs. 1236.53 crore in the last 16 months. This has become possible under the visionary leadership and guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and stamps the transparency and effectiveness of corrective measure undertaken by Shri Agnihotri since assuming the charge as the minister of the department. The transport department earned Rs. 912.18 crore during the fiscal 2024-25 and Rs. 324.35 crore during the first four months of fiscal 2025-26, i.e. April to July, 2025.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that this achievement could be credited to the success of the implementation of the policies, and dedication and hard-work of the entire administration. He said that the transport department was not limited to its operations on the roads, but is a strong pillar that shapes and speeds-up the economic progress of the state. He added the department focused and prioritized upon departmental transparency, much needed improvement in the technical system of tax collection and digitalization of public services. The revenue receipts were the result of these positive steps.
During the fiscal 2024-25, the department earned Rs. 160.28 crore revenue trough permit fee, license fee and penalties under Indian Motor Vehicle Act. Similarly, under State Motor Vehicle Act, a revenue of Rs. 712.82 was earned through token tax, composite fees, special registration charges, SRT and green tax. Additionally, Rs. 39.08 crore was earned through green tax and various other fee.
In the first four months of fiscal 2025-26 till July, 2025, Rs. 63.09 crore was earned through Indian Motor Vehicle Act, Rs. 250.01 crore trough State Motor Vehicle Act and Rs. 11.25 crore through other sources. As per the officers of the department, the revenue collection could reach well above Rs. 1,000 crore till the end of the year.
Shri Agnihotri said that various reforms, including technically strengthening the department, were being introduced, making services like vehicle registration, grant of permit, tax deposit and various processes of monitoring online ensuring transparency. This has resulted in drastic fall in fraudulent activities and accessibility of services at the doorstep of public.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the revenue collection exceeding Rs. 1236 crore is a huge leap in making Himachal financially strong and congratulated the officers and staff of the transport department for the success.

Deputy CM mourns loss of six lives in road accident
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has expressed grief over the tragic road accident in Chanwas area of Tissa subdivision in Chamba district in which six people lost their lives.
In his condolence message, he said the news of the accident was extremely painful. He also directed the district administration to expedite relief and rescue operations and ensure all possible support to the bereaved families.
He prayed for the peace of the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss.

Deputy CM extends Raksha Bandhan greetings
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
Mukesh Agnihotri said that the festival symbolizes the bond of love, affection and trust between brothers and sisters and reflects the unique traditions of Indian culture. He said that the festival would further strengthen the spirit of love and brotherhood in society.

Polling stations list available for inspection, suggestion invited
A Spokesperson of State Election Commission today here informed that as per the direction of the Election Commission of India, list of polling stations in respect of all the 68 Assembly Constituencies of the state have been published in draft on 7th August, 2025 under the provision of section 25 of Representation of the People Act, 1951.
He informed that draft list of polling stations so published, are made available for free inspection of general public in the offices of all the District Election Officers (DCs)/Electoral Registration Officers (ADMs/SDMs)/Tehsildars/Naib Tehsildar offices. The said lists can also be seen at CEO's website https://ceohimachal.hp.gov.in.
Spokesperson further informed that all the citizens are requested to submit their objection/suggestions, if any, pertaining to rationalization of polling stations before their concerned District Election Officer (DC)/ERO (ADM/SDM) up to 13th of August, 2025.
