Chandigarh,13.09.25- The 12th foundation day of Bird Freedom Day was celebrated in Chandigarh with great enthusiasm, spreading the message of freeing mute birds from cages and promoting compassion towards nature. Observed every year on the second Sunday of September, Bird Freedom Day began in Jaipur in 2014 and has since grown into a global movement, reaching as far as Chicago and, this year, Dubai.
The celebrations in Chandigarh commenced at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 21-A, where hundreds of children participated in a painting competition on the theme “Freedom of Birds from Cages.” Through their vibrant artworks, students beautifully expressed their emotions and raised their voices for the rights of birds. Principal Sukhpal Kaur, who was recently honored with the State Award on Teachers’ Day, along with school's mentor Dr Rupesh Singh and art teacher Shailyadeep, played a significant role in encouraging the children and strengthening the impact of the campaign.
In the painting competition, Anvi (Class 10) secured the first prize, while Anshu Rawat (Class 12) and Anusha Saha (Class 11) won the second and third prizes respectively. All participants were recognized with certificates by campaign founder Vipin Kumar Jain and co-founder Ruchika Jain, who lauded the creativity and commitment of the young participants.
Addressing the gathering, Vipin Kumar Jain emphasized that Bird Freedom Day is not just about freeing birds from cages, but also about raising awareness on environmental protection and human sensitivity. Since its inception, thousands of children worldwide have created artwork on this theme, resulting in the world’s largest art exhibition dedicated to bird freedom and conservation. The display of paintings in Chandigarh captivated visitors and conveyed powerful messages of freedom, compassion, and harmony with nature.
On this occasion, all attendees pledged to continue raising their voices until every caged bird in the world is set free. The campaign will further expand across Chandigarh, Punjab, and Haryana throughout the year to involve more citizens in this noble cause. Concluding the event, Jain expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants and supporters, urging everyone to join hands in ensuring that one day no bird remains confined in a cage.ar
