MAHINDERGARH, 10.01.26-The Department of Mathematics, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh, organized a two-day celebration of National Mathematics Day on 8th and 9th January 2026. The event aimed to promote research awareness, foster academic interaction, and encourage student engagement through various competitions and collaborative activities.

A major highlight of the celebration was the visit of a five-member student team — Anirudh, Anurag, Amarnath Kumar, Aman Patel, and Pushpendra Barala — from South Asian University (SAU), New Delhi, who undertook an inspiring 120 km bicycle journey from New Delhi to CUH as part of their National Research Awareness Campaign titled “The Two Wheels of Research: Dialogue and Discovery.” The campaign symbolically compared the balance required in cycling to the balance between dialogue and discovery essential in the research process.

On their arrival, the visiting team received a warm welcome from Prof. Anil Kumar Yadav, Head, Department of Mathematics, CUH. An interactive session between students of SAU and CUH was organized to facilitate knowledge exchange, discussions on research pathways, and collaborative learning experiences.

To commemorate the occasion, the department organized several engaging competitions including a mathematics quiz, rangoli, treasure hunt, and chess. Students from different departments of CUH participated enthusiastically alongside the SAU team, creating a vibrant atmosphere of interdisciplinary interaction and creativity. The entire event was nicely organised by student volunteers of E1math society and STEM cell of the university.
The visiting team also had an interactive session with Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of CUH, who appreciated their unique initiative and encouraged students to participate in research-driven academic outreach activities. Prof. Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Dean, School of Basic Sciences, CUH, addressed the gathering and emphasized the pivotal role of mathematics in scientific innovation and the importance of nurturing a research mindset among young learners.

The event was efficiently coordinated by Prof. Jitendra Kumar and Dr. Shah Jahan, ably supported by Dr Jagjeet, Dr Arun Kajla and Dr Pawan, whose efforts ensured the successful execution of both academic and co-curricular activities.

The two-day celebration concluded on an inspiring note, highlighting the significance of collaboration, research awareness, and student engagement in strengthening the academic and research ecosystem at the Central University of Haryana.
