Chandigarh, 7 September: Commemorating the 40th National Eye Donation Fortnight (25th August - 8th September, 2025), the Health Committee and NSS Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised an online awareness session on the significance of eye donation. The initiative aimed to sensitise students and the wider community, inspiring them to contribute to the noble cause of restoring sight through eye donation.

Dr. Alisha Kishore, Department of Ophthalmology, Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh, was the resource person for this session. In her insightful address, Dr. Kishore highlighted the critical need for eye donation, elaborated on the procedures involved, and dispelled prevalent myths surrounding the practice. She emphasised that individuals of any age can donate their eyes, and underscored the vital role of community and religious leaders in promoting this life-transforming cause. Participants were informed about Eye Bank facilities and provided contact details to facilitate pledging and donation. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation by 102 students and faculty.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma appreciated the initiative, and said that such awareness programmes on humanitarian causes not only enlighten students but also empower them to become ambassadors of change in the society. She encouraged the participants to proliferate the message of eye donation, thereby contributing to a brighter and more compassionate world.
