CM lays foundation stone of Rs. 17.52 crore building of GSSS Nadaun

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today laid foundation stone of building of government senior secondary school Nadaun, district Hamirpur to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 17.52 crore. The building will have six class rooms, 7 laboratories, 2 staff room, Principal office, electric room, NSS room, conference room, library room, control room, music room, dance room, art room etc. besides other basic amenities.

Sh. Sukhu said that the existing school building had become quite old and the new campus would be completed by December this year. The new campus, he said, would be modern, spacious and aesthetically appealing, providing students with better educational facilities. He said that teachers were being recruited in the schools strictly on the basis of merit and additional teachers would be engaged by 30 September to strengthen the teaching system and address the shortage of staff.

The Chief Minister said that the state government was giving priority to strengthening educational infrastructure so that students, particularly in rural areas could access quality education closer to home. The state government was also developing a state-of-the-art sports complex at Nadaun, where facilities for around 14 indoor sports would be made available. The government, he added, was working to develop the area’s economy through sports tourism and create new opportunities for the youth.

Sh. Sukhu said that efforts were being made to increase the income of the people by strengthening the rural economy and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities across the state. The government was implementing several initiatives to promote rural economic activities and generate employment.

He said that the state government was also working towards establishing an AIIMS-level Ayurvedic institution in Hamirpur district and land measuring around 74 bighas had been identified for the proposed institution and the bidding process had also been initiated. He said that Himachal Pradesh had become one of the five shortlisted States for the project. He further said that an Allied and Health Care Medical College would also be established in Hamirpur and efforts were being made to start the institution at the earliest.

Sh. Sukhu said that a new Ghat would be developed in Nadaun along the Beas river near Nadaun bridge at the cost of Rs. 250 crore and the bus stand would be upgraded to provide better facilities to commuters. He said that the Himachal Pradesh Government was committed to providing quality facilities and services to people across the State. Administrative and legal bottlenecks were being removed and necessary reforms were being undertaken to resolve public grievances and ensure faster delivery of government services, he added.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the people of Nadaun for their continued affection and support. He said “The love and trust of the people has enabled him to reach the position of Chief Minister and that he remains committed to working for their welfare and development.”

MLA Sanjay Rattan, Vice Chairman, H.P. OBC Finance and Development Corporation Dr. Mohan Lal, Chairman HP Marketing Board Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Congress leaders Subhash Dhatwalia, Captain Prithvi Chand and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

Horticulture Minister reviews progress of HP SHIVA project

Revenue, Horticulture and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi today chaired a meeting to review the progress of plantation and field preparation works under the HP SHIVA project, here today. Funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the HP SHIVA project is being implemented in seven districts of Himachal Pradesh.

The Minister reviewed the progress of works being carried out as per the prescribed timelines, as well as compliance with the action points and directions issued during the previous review meeting.

It was informed that Mandi district has completed plantation over approximately 993 hectares, recording the highest progress among all seven districts covered under the project. The Minister directed the officials to expedite the work and achieve the stipulated targets within the fixed timelines. A target of planting over 3,000 hectares has been set under the project by March, 2027 and so far, approximately 2,600 hectares of land has been prepared for plantation.

Jagat Singh Negi also reviewed the ongoing plantation activities during the current planting season. It was informed that over the past three years, approximately nine lakh plants have been planted under the project.

The Horticulture Minister also directed field officials to ensure that only plants meeting the prescribed technical specifications are planted in the clusters. He also directed that the nursery operators empanelled under the project should strictly comply with the prescribed standards and quality requirements.

It was further informed that during the ongoing planting season, a target of planting approximately 6 lakh plants by September 2026 has been set.

Jagat Singh Negi stressed the need for strict on-ground monitoring, adherence to technical specifications, and timely completion of plantation and related infrastructure works, so that the project targets can be achieved within the stipulated timelines.
