Governor visits Himachal Emporium in New Delhi

  • Emphasizes to promote local products through strategic marketing

During his visit to the Himachal Emporium in New Delhi today, Kavinder Gupta evinced keen interest in the traditional products, appreciating the intricate craftsmanship that reflects the rich cultural heritage of the State.

He particularly admired the fine handwoven textiles and artisanal creations that embody generations of skill and tradition. The state’s handicrafts also showcase remarkable diversity and precision. These crafts not only preserve cultural identity but also provide sustainable livelihoods to local communities.

The Governor acknowledged that such traditional industries represent the soul of Himachal Pradesh, emphasizing the need to promote and preserve these crafts on national and global platforms. He said that such platforms play an important role in showcasing the State’s indigenous products, including handloom and handicraft items, to a wider audience at both national and international levels.

Kavinder Gupta stressed the importance of supporting local artisans, weavers and entrepreneurs. He said that they should be provided with better marketing opportunities and modern infrastructure so that they can grow and succeed.

He interacted with the officials and staff of the Emporium and appreciated their dedicated efforts in promoting the unique cultural identity and traditional craftsmanship of Himachal Pradesh.

He said that the promotion of traditional products not only helps in preserving the rich cultural heritage of the state but also strengthens the rural economy. It also creates sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities.

The Governor further said that Himachali products were widely known for their quality, authenticity and aesthetic appeal. He said that there was huge potential to expand their reach in domestic as well as global markets.

He encouraged the concerned authorities to continue their efforts in promoting locally made products. He also stressed the need to enhance their brand value through innovation, quality assurance and effective marketing strategies.

Governor welcomes Rs. 3,920 crore central aid for Himachal.

Governor Kavinder Gupta today welcomed the Central Government’s decision to provide Rs. 3,920 crore to Himachal Pradesh under the ‘Pride of Hills Special Development Assistance for Hill States under Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI)' scheme.

He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this important and forward-looking decision. He said that it clearly shows the Centre’s strong commitment to the development of hill states.

The Central Government has created a special fund of Rs. 25,000 crore for the development of nine hill states under the 16th Finance Commission framework. Out of this total amount, Himachal Pradesh has been allocated Rs. 3,920 crore, making it the second-highest recipient among all hill states.

The Governor said that this financial support would give a strong boost to the state’s development. He explained that sectors like roads, healthcare, education and other important infrastructure will now improve faster with this assistance.

He said that this special financial package was very important for Himachal Pradesh, as the state has been facing financial stress and limited resources. He expressed confidence that the funds would be used properly, honestly and for the overall development and well-being of all sections of society.

Governor Kavinder Gupta also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for understanding the unique needs and aspirations of hill states. He said this decision reflects the Central Government’s strong commitment to fair, inclusive and sustainable development across every part of the country.
