Chandigarh, 28.09.26-: Maharishi Dayanand Public School, Daria, in collaboration with the Environment Department, Chandigarh Administration, organised a cycle rally and plantation drive to mark Green Consumer Day.
Environment enthusiast Rahul Mahajan flagged off the cycle rally and led the plantation drive. Students planted two sandalwood and one mulberry sapling and pledged to nurture them regularly. Mahajan highlighted the importance of trees in maintaining a clean and healthy environment and urged students to contribute actively to environmental protection.
School Principal Dr. Vinod Kumar Sharma spoke about the health and environmental benefits of cycling, stressing that greater use of bicycles for short distances can help reduce air pollution and promote fitness.
The rally passed through the village’s main road and adjoining lanes, spreading awareness about cycling and plantation. Teachers also participated and encouraged students to remain actively involved in environmental conservation initiatives.
