CHANDIGARH, 28.09.26-Remembering Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh: A special Book Exhibition dedicated to his life, ideas, writings and revolutionary legacy was organised by Readers’ Club and NDLI Club, College Library, GGDSD College, Chandigarh, to commemorate his birth anniversary

The exhibition was organised with the idea of remembering Bhagat Singh not merely through his photographs on walls, but through his thoughts, ideas and writings. A curated collection of books exploring his life, revolutionary ideas, writings and contribution to India’s freedom struggle was displayed for students and members of the college community.
The exhibition featured books such as The Execution of Bhagat Singh: Legal Heresies of the Raj, Yugdrashta Bhagat Singh aur Unke Mritunjay Purkhe, Satluj Vahinda Reha, Jail Diary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Sardar Bhagat Singh and His Companions, Bhagat Singh: A Biography, along with other works documenting his life, writings and legacy. The collection offered students an opportunity to look beyond the familiar image of Bhagat Singh and discover the ideas and experiences that shaped his journey.

The initiative aimed to encourage students to engage with history through reading rather than merely observing portraits and paying formal tributes. It sought to make the remembrance of Bhagat Singh more meaningful by bringing his thoughts and writings closer to the younger generation.

During an engaging interaction with students, Dr. Gurpreet Singh Sohal, Convener, Readers’ Club, stressed the importance of transforming the library into an active space for reading and intellectual conversation beyond textbooks. He noted that exploring books on visionary freedom fighters allows students to connect directly with the courageous ideas and ideals that define our history.

Dr. Ajay Sharma, Principal, GGDSD College, appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of remembering historical figures through learning, reading and understanding their contributions.

Students and members of the college community visited the exhibition and explored the collection, making it an engaging platform for reading, reflection and discussion.
