Chandigarh, 16 September: The Department of Physical Education and NCC (Naval Wing) of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, in collaboration with Emerald Taekwondo Academy, organised a two-day workshop on self-defence to equip young women with essential skills for personal safety and confidence. Around 76 students participated in the training programme.
The workshop focused on imparting basic self-defence techniques and practical skills to the participants. Special emphasis was laid on physical fitness, mental toughness, situational awareness and the importance of responding confidently in challenging situations. The students actively participated in the training sessions and learnt techniques aimed at enhancing their preparedness and self-confidence. Internationally trained instructors conducted the sessions and shared valuable tips and practical insights to sensitise the students to the importance of self-defence. The workshop also encouraged the participants to develop a proactive approach towards their personal safety and well-being.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma appreciated the initiative and said that self-defence is an essential life skill that empowers young women to face challenging situations with greater confidence and awareness. She added that such training programmes not only strengthen physical fitness but also cultivate mental resilience, alertness and self-confidence.
