Chandigarh, 10 August 2026-The 42nd Chandigarh State Yogasana Sports Championship was organised by the Chandigarh Yoga Association today at Brahmrishi Yoga Training College, Sector 19, Chandigarh. The championship was inaugurated by Sh. H. Rajesh Prasad, IAS, Chief Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, who attended the event as the Chief Guest.
On the occasion, the Chief Secretary felicitated Asian, National and Khelo India medal-winning Yogasana players for their achievements.
Addressing the players, Sh. H. Rajesh Prasad, IAS, Chief Secretary, encouraged them to practise yoga regularly for their physical and mental well-being. He highlighted the important role of yoga in promoting a healthy body and mind and encouraged the players to pursue yoga for their overall and inner growth.
Players from different age groups participated in the championship. The categories included 8-10, 10-12, 12-14, 14-16, 16-18, 21-25, 25-30, 30-35, 35-45 and above 45 years, with boys and girls participating in the respective categories.
The top three players from each age group will be selected to represent the Chandigarh Yogasana Team at the 51st Sub-Junior and Junior National Yogasana Sports Championship, scheduled to be held from October 3 to 6, 2026, at Jaipur, Rajasthan. The selected players will also represent Chandigarh at the Senior National Yogasana Championship, scheduled to be held in December 2026 at Patna, Bihar.
The Chandigarh Yoga Association has already organised three National Yogasana Sports Championships in Chandigarh.
Sh. Ashok Kumar Aggarwal, President, Asian Yoga Federation and Chairman, Yoga Federation of India; Sh. Raman Kumar, Treasurer, Yoga Federation of India; Sh. Arvind Jain, President, Chandigarh Yoga Association; and Sh. Chandan Babu Poojari, General Secretary, Chandigarh Yoga Association, were also present on the occasion.
