CHANDIGARH,13.09.25-The Department of Nursing, Government Medical College and hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh has organized two weeks Induction Training Program from 11.09.2025 for the 245 Nos. of newly recruited Nursing Officers under the Chairpersonship of Nursing Superintendent Ms. Amanvir Kaur.
The inaugural session was held on 11.09.2025 for which the Hon’ble Director Principal Prof. G.P. Thami and Worthy Medical Superintendent Prof. Dasari Harish addressed the gathering and advised to focus on the patient care and documentation which is crucial for any health care setting. Further, they appreciated the efforts made by the Department of Nursing for organising the Induction Programme. The program is based on the model given by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India for induction training of nurses and as per need of the Institute.
The Induction Training Program organized with the main objective to improve the patient care by enhancing the professional skills of newly recruited Nursing Officers. The specific objectives for the same that they will be able to implement the hospital policies, procedures, basic life support techniques, crash cart maintenance, apply the principles and techniques of nursing documentation, Infection Control Practices, Biomedical Waste Management, best nursing care through nursing process, disaster management and fire safety measures etc. The said training is planned for two weeks followed by pre-test & post-test and theoretical sessions along with the practical sessions in small-small groups. The 40 Resource Persons will provide the skill training and knowledge from the Department of Nursing, College of Nursing, Department of Forensic Medicine, Department of Anaesthesia and Dietetics Department etc.
Today is third day, the topics beings covered are unit readiness, care of intravenous line, pre and post-operative care with check lists, APAR (Annual Performance Appraisals Record) and Anecdotal record for day to day working of nursing staff.
