Chandigarh, April 11: Today, celebrating the festival of EID, officials of Chandigarh Police, volunteers of International Sikh Confederation, FOSWAC-Federation of Sector Welfare Associations of Chandigarh & Yuvsatta, participated in an interfaith EID celebrations at Jama Masjid, in which over 500 Peace Clubs students of prominent schools of the city also participated by sending gifts of beautiful handmade EID greeting cards and green potted plants.

Prominent amongst those who participated in this programme included Ms. Reeta Kohli, Judge, NCLT-National Company Law Tribunal, Mumbai, from Chandigarh Police Sh. Dilsher Singh, DSP, Sh. P. Abhinandan, DSP-DANIPS and Ram Dayal, SHO, Police Station, Manimajra, Mr. Baljinder Singh Bittoo, Chairman, FOSWAC and Mr. Pramod Sharma, Founder, Yuvsatta (youth for peace)-NGO.

Appreciating the initiative Sh. P. Abhinandan, DSP, Chandigarh Police, shared that such occasions of festivals of joy and enthusiasm, motivates us further to not only believe in oneness of mankind but also take care of others who are marginalized and left-behind.

"The message of Islam is that people of all religions should live together with love and affection. This is the 'Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb'. There is no religion bigger than humanity," said Moulvi Mohammad Imran, Principal of Madrasa of Manimajra, where this endeavour was organized.

Giving information about the initiative Mr. Pramod Sharma, founder of Yuvsatta shared that fifteen years back they started a unique ‘1 India

Campaign’ to further spread and strengthen the Indian spirit of unity in diversity, interfaith harmony and national integration among the people, especially the young students to participate in the EID festivities in such good numbers.

The programme ended with prayers for peace, progress and prosperity in the country.
