NEW DELHI,27.10.23-Indian culture is thousands of years old, whose oldness can be seen in various fields like food, craftsmanship, dance style, language, literature etc. To keep this culture alive for long term and to promote it, Delhi Tourism has been organizing many festivals and fairs in Delhi. In this series, Delhi Tourism, in collaboration with the Department of Arts, Culture and Languages, Delhi Government, has brought a three-day Kavi Sammelan which is being organized from 27^th to 29^th October 2023 at Satyagraha Mandap, Gandhi Darshan, near Rajghat, Delhi.

Today this three-day Kavi Sammelan was inaugurated by Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Government of Delhi. On this occasion, Mrs. Niharika Rai, Managing Director, Delhi Tourism, Mrs. Geetika Sharma, General Manager, Delhi Tourism, and other distinguished guests were present.

Managing Director of Delhi Tourism, Mrs. Niharika Rai welcomed the Chief Guest Mr. Saurabh Bhardwaj, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Government of Delhi and in her address she said that in today's time, the trend of poetry and ghazals is becoming extinct and the young generation is fond of rap. Adopting this trend has no value. Organizing Kavi Sammelan will prove to be a unique effort in keeping alive the literary art of this extinct poetry.

On the occasion of the inauguration, the Hon’ble Tourism Minister appreciated the efforts of Delhi Tourism and said that the fairs and festivals organized by Delhi Tourism not only promote tourism in Delhi but also help in preserving our culture. He said that such events will prove to be an important step in keeping our culture alive in future also.

On the first day of the Kavi Sammelan, eminent poets from the Hindi Academy - Dr. Vishnu Saxena, Mr. Dinesh Raghuvanshi, Mr. Alok Yadav, Ms. Anamika Jain Amber and Dr. Kirti Kale recited poetry, listening to which the visitors present there, were mesmerized.

Tomorrow on 28^th October 2023, Mushaira will be organized by Urdu poets in collaboration with Urdu Academy and on 29^th October 2023(Sunday), Kavi Darbar will be organized by Punjabi Academy. So all of you are respectfully invited to enjoy the poems presented by the poets in the Kavi Sammelan organized by Satyagraha Mandap, Gandhi Darshan, Near Rajghat, Delhi Tourism. Entry to the Kavi Sammelan is free.
