CHANDIGARH,28.04.23-To draw attention to the issues like pollution, global warming, the depletion of natural resources and to highlight the significance of environmental protection for human survival, Earth Day is celebrated every year since 1970. The theme for Earth Day ,2023,is 'Invest in our Planet'.

This year, students of St. Joseph's Sr.Sec. School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh participated in the Art 4 Earth - Poster Making,Collage Making and Clay Modelling as well as the Climate Action Heroes - Face Painting and Fancy Dress activities.

The 3rd Global Peace Fest-CPF 2023, conducted by Yuvsatta NGO Youth for Peace and the Department of Environment Chandigarh Administration. Based on the Theme of VasudevKutumbkam the activities were organised to inculcate awareness on the need to protect the Earth. The Josephians - Aakshara Chauhan of Class VIII G, Ishita of Class VIII A and Divanshi of Class VI E were selected amongst the Top 5 winners of the Face Painting and Fancy Dress Competitions respectively, which were themed upon the SDGs related to the Environment.

Principal Ms. Monica Chawla who was the Special Guest at the event was honoured by Shri Debendra Dalai IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests and Mrs. Jayshree Sharma, Chairperson Piccadilly Group,with a planter and 'Gandhi's Talisman '- that is one of the last notes left behind by the Mahatma, expressing his deepest social thought.

Principal Ms. Monica Chawla xpressed her gratitude to Shri Debendra Dalai and Shri Pramod Sharma, Founder of Yuvsatta for bestowing her students with bigger platforms to showcase their skills and imbibe their learning from such enriching experiences.
