Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi Calls for Sincere, Transparent and Accountable Discharge of Duties

Chandigarh, August 15 – Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Anurag Rastogi called upon officers and employees to accord the highest priority to public service and discharge their duties with utmost sincerity, transparency and accountability. He said that the core objective of good governance is to make the lives of citizens easier and ensure that the benefits of government schemes and services reach the last person in a transparent and effective manner.

The Chief Secretary said this in his address on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day after hoisting the National Flag at his residence in Chandigarh.

Sh. Anurag Rastogi said that August 15 is an occasion of pride and inspiration for all. The day reminds us of the sacrifice, dedication and valour of the great freedom fighters and martyrs whose struggle paved the way for the country’s independence. He said that every citizen should discharge their responsibilities with honesty and dedication for the progress of the nation and public welfare.

On the occasion, police personnel saluted the National Flag, while Vande Mataram and the National Anthem were rendered, expressing respect and gratitude towards the nation. Officers and employees present at the flag-hoisting ceremony pledged to discharge their duties with sincerity towards safeguarding the country’s freedom, unity, integrity and sovereignty. The atmosphere was imbued with patriotic fervour.

Sh. Anurag Rastogi said that Haryana has made significant achievements in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, sports, education, health, infrastructure and administrative reforms. He said that the State Government and administration are making continuous efforts to take Haryana to new heights of development.

He called upon officers and employees to make public service their highest priority and discharge their responsibilities with sincerity, transparency and accountability.

The Chief Secretary also called upon the people of Haryana to actively participate in nation-building and strengthen the spirit of brotherhood, harmony and social cohesion. He said that collective efforts are essential to achieve the goal of building a developed, prosperous, self-reliant and empowered Haryana and a strong India.

Chandigarh, August 15 - Haryana Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management, Dr. Sumita Misra unfurled the national flag at the New Civil Secretariat, Sector 17, Chandigarh, on Independence Day on Saturday, calling upon citizens to demonstrate patriotism not merely during national celebrations but through responsible conduct in their everyday lives.

Addressing officers and employees after the flag unfurling, Dr. Misra described Independence Day as a “precious and invaluable occasion” and said the country must never forget the sacrifices of countless known and unknown freedom fighters who fought for Independence and laid the foundation for nation-building.

She stressed that patriotism should not remain confined to ceremonies and celebrations, but should be visible in the way citizens discharge their responsibilities towards society and the country.

“Protecting the environment, maintaining cleanliness, fulfilling our duties sincerely and helping those in need are also important expressions of love for the nation,” Dr. Misra said.

She said compassion, solidarity, mutual respect and brotherhood should become an integral part of social life, adding that a country becomes stronger when citizens rise above individual interests and work collectively for the larger welfare of society.

Dr. Misra said Independence was not merely a historic achievement but also carried a continuing responsibility for every citizen.

“By carrying the values of our freedom fighters into our daily lives and actions, we can truly honour their sacrifices and contribute towards building a stronger, more compassionate and progressive India,” she said.

During the Independence Day programme, officers and employees of the New Civil Secretariat joined in singing patriotic songs and recalled the contribution of national heroes as well as countless others who participated in the freedom struggle and the country's subsequent development.

Dr. Misra said the sacrifices made by freedom fighters must be remembered and their legacy passed on to future generations.

She urged government officers and employees to uphold the values of national unity, integrity and public service and discharge their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication.

Chandigarh, August 15- Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini unfurled the National Flag at Hansi on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day and extended his warm greetings and best wishes to the people of the State on Independence Day and the festival of Teej.

Paying homage to the known and unknown martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice for the country’s freedom and later laid down their lives in defending the nation, the Chief Minister said that Haryana has always played a leading role, from the freedom struggle to safeguarding the country’s borders. He said the State is moving ahead at a rapid pace with the resolution of ‘Viksit Bharat-Viksit Haryana’.

The Chief Minister honoured Hansi boxer Narender Berwal, a silver medallist at the Commonwealth Games, and handed over employment guarantee certificates to nine local youth under the Haryana Contractual Employees (Security of Service) Act, 2024. Schoolchildren presented colourful cultural programmes, while police personnel from HPA, Madhuban, also presented an impressive show.

The Chief Minister took the salute of the parade and highlighted Haryana’s development journey and the achievements of the present State Government.

*Hansi Becomes Haryana’s 23rd District*

The Chief Minister said that Hansi has become the 23rd district of Haryana and expressed his privilege of unfurling the National Flag there on Independence Day. To ensure smooth administrative functioning in the newly created district, 471 posts have been sanctioned. The 50-bed hospital has also been upgraded to a 100-bed facility. New divisions and sub-divisions of the Public Works Department have been established to accelerate development works.

*Call to Build a ‘Viksit Bharat-Viksit Haryana’*

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that over the last nearly 12 years, Haryana’s development has progressed with equality, harmony and tolerance. The efforts of the government have made the lives of common people simpler, easier and safer. He called upon the people to embrace the State’s rich cultural traditions and high moral values and resolve to work hard for building a ‘Viksit Bharat-Viksit Haryana’.

*Transparent Recruitment Providing Jobs ‘Without Parchi Kharchi’*

The Chief Minister said that over the last nearly 12 years, the State Government has brought greater transparency into the system and ensured delivery of services and benefits of schemes to people at their doorstep. Of the 217 ‘Sankalps’ made in the Assembly election manifesto, 70 have already been fulfilled during the last one-and-a-half years, while work is underway on 147 others.

He said e-governance has helped effectively curb corruption and the role of middlemen. Transparent recruitment ‘without Parchi Kharchi’, online registration of properties, online transfer policy and educated Panchayats have emerged as defining features of the new Haryana.

He said more than two lakh youth have been provided government jobs through transparent recruitment over the last nearly 12 years. In the last one-and-a-half years alone, around 43,000 youth have secured employment. As many as 1.56 lakh youth have been provided skill training.

With the objective of making youth job creators, the Haryana Progressive MSME and Export Promotion Policy-2026 has been implemented, with a target of attracting investment of more than Rs. 55,000 crore and generating over five lakh new employment opportunities.

*Major Decisions in the Interest of Farmers*

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said farmers remain at the centre of the State Government’s policies. Around 24,000 farmers in Haryana have adopted natural farming over 44,000 acres of land. Procurement of 24 crops is being undertaken at Minimum Support Price (MSP). So far, Rs. 1.86 lakh crore has been directly transferred into the accounts of 12 lakh farmers against crop procurement.

The Chief Minister said that over the last nearly 12 years, farmers have been provided Rs. 16,000 crore as compensation for crop damage. He said a new law has been enacted to protect farmers from spurious fertilisers, seeds and pesticides. Modern agricultural technologies are also being promoted, with technologies such as drones, remote sensing, artificial intelligence-based decision-support systems and digital farming being taken to farmers.

*Social Security for Poor, Deprived and Needy Families*

The Chief Minister said the government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of development reach the last person in society. The income limit for the creamy layer among Backward Classes has been increased from Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 8 lakh.

Under the Mukhyamantri Vivah Shagun Yojana, financial assistance of up to Rs. 71,000 is being provided for the marriage of daughters. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 1.56 lakh houses have been provided, while nearly 32,000 poor families in urban and rural areas have been provided plots under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana. The social security pension has been increased to Rs. 3,200 per month, he said.

The Chief Minister said that 1.53 lakh solar systems have been installed under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Under the Dayalu Yojana, financial assistance amounting to Rs. 3,152 crore has been provided to 83,536 families.

*New Momentum to Women’s Empowerment*

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said women are the greatest strength of society and their social, economic and educational empowerment remains a top priority of the government. Under the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, women are being provided financial assistance of Rs. 2,100 per month. So far, around 10 lakh women have received Rs. 2,042 crore under the scheme.

He said the participation of women-led startups in Haryana has reached 50 per cent, and a new policy has been introduced with the objective of increasing it to 60 per cent.

Under the Har Ghar Har Grihini Yojana, nearly 15 lakh families are being provided LPG cylinders at Rs. 500. Women have been given 50 per cent representation in Panchayati Raj Institutions. As many as 500 women cultural centres have been established in the State, while free education is being provided to girls up to the postgraduate level.

*Special Focus on Education, Sports and Health*

The Chief Minister said a college has been established every 20 kilometres and a PM Shri or Culture Model School every 10 kilometres in the State.

Haryana’s sportspersons have brought laurels to the State at national and international levels. At the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, 23 sportspersons from Haryana represented India and won 10 medals, including seven gold medals.

Similarly, of the six medals won by India at the Paris Olympics-2024, five were won by sportspersons from Haryana. At the Tokyo Olympics-2020, Haryana sportspersons contributed four of India’s seven medals. Medal-winning sportspersons are being provided cash awards of up to Rs. 6 crore along with government jobs, he said.

Highlighting achievements in the health sector, the Chief Minister said Haryana now has 18 medical colleges, of which 12 have been established during the last nearly 12 years, while five more medical colleges are under construction.

Sixteen district civil hospitals have been equipped with modern facilities. Free dialysis facilities for kidney patients have been ensured in all government hospitals and medical colleges. Under the Ayushman Bharat-Chirayu Yojana, nearly 30 lakh people have received free treatment at a cost of Rs. 4,226 crore, he informed.

*Haryana Emerging as a Preferred Destination for Industry and Investment*

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that through the Make in Haryana Industrial Policy-2026 and nine other sector-specific policies, the State has set a target of attracting Rs. 5 lakh crore in new investment and creating 10 lakh employment opportunities over the next five years. Even during the pre-launch programme of the policy, MoUs involving investment proposals worth Rs. 1.10 lakh crore were signed with 110 companies.

He said work is underway on major projects including Gurugram Global City, Narnaul Logistics Hub, Hisar Manufacturing Cluster and Sohna Electronics Park. Over the last nearly 12 years, 15.54 lakh micro, small and medium enterprises have been established in the State, providing employment to 97 lakh people.

*Expansion of Basic Amenities in Rural Areas*

The Chief Minister said Rs. 8,704 crore has been allocated for rural development during the current financial year. More than 6,000 villages are receiving 24-hour power supply, while clean piped water has been provided to more than 30 lakh rural households.

Thousands of solid and liquid waste management projects have been initiated in villages, and nearly 2,800 Amrit Sarovars have been developed. As many as 996 Atal Libraries have been established in rural areas, while 1,000 new Atal Libraries will be opened during the current financial year.

*Road, Rail and Air Connectivity Strengthened*

The Chief Minister said that over the last nearly 12 years, roads covering 43,703 kilometres have been improved at a cost of Rs. 28,651 crore, while 2,417 kilometres of new roads have been constructed. Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, roads covering 3,477 kilometres have been constructed at a cost of Rs. 1,886 crore.

He said 22 new National Highways have been declared for Haryana over the last nearly 12 years, of which work on 14 has been completed. Every district of the State has now been connected by a National Highway.

With the commencement of air services from Maharaja Agrasen Airport, Hisar and the surrounding region have been placed directly on the country’s aviation map. Direct flights from Hisar to Ayodhya, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir and Jaipur have commenced.

The celebrations across the State reflected Haryana’s deep sense of patriotism and its commitment to the nation’s development journey. Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Cabinet Ministers and Ministers of State unfurled the national flag at various programmes across the State, while recalling the sacrifices of freedom fighters and martyrs, and highlighted key initiatives being undertaken by the State Government to strengthen the welfare of every section of society and create new growth opportunities. Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh. Harvinder Kalyan, addressing the 80th Independence Day function at Kurukshetra after hoisting the national flag, said India is strengthening its position globally through its rich cultural heritage, strategic strength and rapidly growing economy. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is advancing towards self-reliance, innovation and economic growth and moving steadily towards the goal of Viksit Bharat.

Sh. Harvinder Kalyan said development must go beyond economic growth and ensure benefits reach the poor, farmers, women, youth and every section of society. Development and Panchayats, Mining and Geology Minister, Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar, addressing the Independence Day function at Panipat, said the Haryana Government is firmly advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat along with Viksit Haryana. He said development is meaningful only when its benefits reach the last person, with the empowerment of the poor, farmers, women and youth remaining a key priority of the government. He highlighted measures including free treatment for eligible families under Ayushman Bharat-Chirayu, MSP procurement for 24 crops, monthly assistance of Rs. 2,100 to women under the Lado Lakshmi Yojana, and Rs. 500 LPG cylinders for women from poor families.

Calling for a collective resolve towards a drug-free youth, healthy families and Viksit Haryana, Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar said the government is undertaking extensive awareness initiatives against drug abuse, including programmes such as Rahgiri and Youth Marathons. *Make in Haryana to Attract Rs. 55,000 Crore Investment, Generate 5 Lakh Jobs- Rao Narbir Singh*

Industry and Commerce Minister, Sh. Rao Narbir Singh, addressing the Independence Day function at Sonipat, said Haryana’s economy is progressing rapidly, with the State’s GSDP projected at Rs. 15.18 lakh crore in 2026-27, reflecting an estimated 11 per cent growth over the previous year. He said the Make in Haryana Policy is expected to attract Rs. 55,000 crore investment in the MSME sector and create nearly five lakh employment opportunities by 2030. He also said six of the 10 proposed Integrated Manufacturing Townships (IMTs) have already been approved.

Highlighting measures for soldiers and their families, the Minister said a Rs. 178.14-crore budget provision has been made for the Sainik and Para-Military Welfare Corporation, while 20 per cent reservation for Agniveers in government services has been provided under Haryana Agniveer Policy-2024. He also underlined the State’s focus on farmers, women and disadvantaged sections, including MSP procurement for 24 crops and monthly assistance of Rs. 2,100 to women under the Lado Lakshmi Yojana.

Education Reforms and Youth Empowerment Key to Viksit Haryana–Cabinet Minister Mahipal Dhanda*

Education Minister, Sh. Mahipal Dhanda, while addressing the Independence Day function at Fatehabad after hoisting the national flag, said the State is committed to advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Haryana by 2047, with education, youth empowerment and inclusive development at the core of its priorities.

Highlighting the transformation in school education, he said the number of Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary Schools has increased from 13 in 2014 to 218. He said the Super-100 programme is providing talented students from economically weaker and ordinary families with quality preparation and guidance for competitive examinations, while foreign language education has also been introduced in government schools, with French being taught in 37 schools and German language programmes also underway.

He said the Government is simultaneously strengthening healthcare, farmers’ welfare, women’s empowerment and social justice. Under the Ayushman Bharat-Chirayu scheme, eligible families are receiving free treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh, while farmers are benefiting from MSP procurement for 24 crops. Emphasising the role of young people in building a Viksit Haryana, he said the Government is providing merit-based employment and skill development opportunities and is taking sustained measures to create a drug-free environment for the youth. He also called upon people to collectively contribute towards the goal of a drug-free youth, healthy families and a Viksit Haryana.

Vipul Goel, addressing the Independence Day function at Faridabad, said the freedom enjoyed today was secured through the sacrifices of freedom fighters and brave soldiers, and carrying forward their ideals is a collective responsibility. He paid tributes to martyrs and their families and greeted the people of Haryana on Independence Day and Hariyali Teej. He said the festival of Hariyali Teej symbolises the State’s rich traditions of nature, culture and women’s empowerment. He noted that 425 dependents of martyrs have been provided government jobs on compassionate grounds during the past 12 years.

He said Haryana’s economy is strengthening through balanced growth in agriculture, industry and services, with the State’s GSDP projected at around Rs. 15.18 lakh crore in 2026-27. He highlighted the first hydrogen train between Jind and Sonipat as a symbol of Haryana’s growing technological capability. Cooperation, Prisons, Elections, Heritage and Tourism Minister, Dr. Arvind Kumar Sharma, addressing the 80th Independence Day programme at Rohtak after hoisting the national flag, called upon citizens to take a resolve for building a Viksit Bharat and Viksit Haryana. He paid homage to the freedom fighters and martyrs whose supreme sacrifices secured the country’s freedom.

Dr. Arvind Sharma said Haryana is progressing rapidly towards becoming a developed state under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the Government focusing on the welfare of farmers, women, youth and poor families. Haryana is procuring 24 crops at MSP, while Lado Lakshmi Yojana provides Rs. 2,100 monthly assistance to women and Ayushman Bharat-Chirayu provides healthcare up to Rs. 5 lakh to eligible families. Merit-based government jobs and skill training are also being provided to youth.

He said Haryana’s GSDP is estimated at around Rs. 15.18 lakh crore in 2026-27, registering nearly 11 per cent growth. The Government is promoting transparent and citizen-centric governance, while housing and marriage assistance schemes are supporting poor families.

Highlighting healthcare and sports achievements, he said one medical university and 12 medical colleges have been established in Haryana over the past 12 years, adding 2,260 MBBS and 788 PG seats. Haryana sportspersons won 10 of India’s 39 medals at the recent Commonwealth Games, including seven gold medals.

Dr. Arvind Sharma said around 425 dependents of martyrs have received government jobs on compassionate grounds over the past nearly 12 years. Recalling Haryana’s role in the 1857 freedom struggle, he said the Shaheedi Smarak at Ambala Cantonment is nearing completion and will inspire future generations.

The Minister also stressed the resolve for a drug-free Haryana and urged youth to contribute to nation-building. He inspected the parade and took the salute of nine contingents, felicitated war widows and other achievers, while nearly 1,600 students from 16 schools presented mass physical exercises and students from eight schools staged patriotic cultural programmes.

Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister, Sh. Shyam Singh Rana, addressing the district-level Independence Day function at Sirsa after hoisting the national flag, said Haryana must contribute strongly to the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. He said the State’s goal is to ensure prosperous farmers, employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for youth, safety and empowerment of women, industrial growth, dignified living for every poor family, balanced rural-urban development, environmental protection and transparent governance.

He said Haryana has a proud legacy of valour and sacrifice, recalling the role of Ambala in the 1857 freedom struggle. The Shaheedi Smarak being constructed at Ambala Cantonment is nearing completion and will preserve the legacy of the State’s freedom fighters.

Sh. Shyam Singh Rana said the Government has accorded priority to the welfare of martyrs’ families, with around 425 dependents of martyrs provided government jobs on compassionate grounds over the past nearly 12 years.

Highlighting farmer-centric initiatives, he said Haryana is the first state in the country to procure all 24 crops on MSP. He also highlighted the inclusion of 22 fruits and vegetables under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana. For Backward Classes, the creamy layer income limit has been increased from Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 8 lakh, while reservation has been provided to BC-B in Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies.

He said India is emerging as a global economic power and stressed that development must reach the last person. He urged citizens to work collectively towards building a Haryana that is prosperous, inclusive, environmentally conscious and developed by 2047.

Public Health Engineering and Public Works Minister, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa, addressing the Independence Day function at Karnal, said Haryana is moving rapidly ahead in development, technology and the green economy. He said eligible families are receiving treatment of up to Rs. 5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat-Chirayu scheme, while free dialysis facilities are available for kidney patients in government hospitals and medical colleges. He said the State has added 2,260 MBBS and 788 PG seats during the past 12 years.

He said farmers remain central to Haryana’s development, with the State providing MSP procurement for 24 crops and abolishing the long-standing abiana system. He also highlighted Rs. 500 LPG cylinders for women from poor families and the Lado Lakshmi scheme. Referring to Karnal’s development, he said major projects including Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Medical University at Kutel, Maharana Pratap Horticulture University, the Outer Ring Road and elevated road project are progressing.

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Sh. Krishan Kumar Bedi, addressing the Independence Day function at Kaithal, said that taking India forward as a strong and prosperous nation is the responsibility of the present generation. He called for collective efforts to realise the vision of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Haryana by 2047, with the youth playing a decisive role in this journey.

Highlighting welfare measures, Sh. Krishan Kumar Bedi said the pension of freedom fighters and their dependents has been enhanced from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 40,000. In contrast, around 425 dependents of martyrs have been provided government jobs during the past nearly 12 years. Referring to Kaithal’s development, he said the Bhagwan Parshuram Medical College, being constructed at a cost of around Rs. 1,000 crore, is nearing completion and will be started soon. He also highlighted the district’s Nursing College and Maharishi Valmiki Sanskrit University.

Women and Child Development Minister, Ms. Shruti Choudhary, addressing the 80th Independence Day function at Panchkula after hoisting the national flag, said Haryana is moving rapidly towards a self-reliant India and playing a key role in the country’s development journey.

She said Haryana is a land of valour, sacrifice and patriotism and recalled the contribution of the State to the 1857 freedom struggle. Around 425 dependents of martyrs have been provided government jobs over the past nearly 12 years, reflecting the Government’s commitment to their families.

Highlighting development initiatives, Ms. Shruti Choudhary said Haryana is the first state to procure 24 crops at MSP, while 22 fruits and vegetables are covered under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana. The State is also expanding healthcare facilities, including free dialysis, hepatitis testing and vaccination, and free single-donor platelets for dengue patients.

She said projects worth Rs. 5,714 crore are being approved under the Jal Surakshit Haryana programme, including rehabilitation of 678 canals, 620 watercourses and 120 canal-based micro-irrigation projects. Another 131 water bodies will be developed for rainwater conservation and groundwater recharge, while nearly two lakh acres will be freed from waterlogging.

Emphasising women’s empowerment, she said eligible women receive Rs. 2,100 per month under the Lado Lakshmi Yojana, while poor families are being provided LPG cylinders at Rs. 500. More than 4,000 playway schools have also been established under NEP-2020.

Referring to this year’s theme, ‘Yuva Shakti—Leading the Journey of Viksit Bharat 2047’, Ms. Shruti Choudhary urged youth to stay away from drugs and contribute through education, skills, employment, sports and entrepreneurship. She highlighted Haryana athletes’ 10-medal haul, including seven gold medals, at the recent Commonwealth Games.

Health and Ayush Minister, Ms Arti Singh Rao, addressing the Independence Day function at Jhajjar after hoisting the national flag, said India is moving steadily towards becoming a developed nation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with women’s empowerment playing a key role in this journey. She said development is meaningful only when its benefits reach the last person, with the government focusing on the welfare and empowerment of the poor, farmers, women, youth and disadvantaged sections.

She highlighted the State Government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, stating that Haryana has added one medical university and 12 medical colleges over the past 12 years, along with 2,260 MBBS and 788 postgraduate seats. She said free dialysis facilities are available for kidney patients at government hospitals and medical colleges, while financial assistance is being provided to eligible cancer patients.

She also emphasised the need to empower youth through sports, education and skill development and urged young people to stay away from drugs and contribute to nation-building. Referring to the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, she said these initiatives reinforce the spirit of patriotism, national unity and pride. He said Haryana’s GSDP is estimated at around Rs. 15.18 lakh crore in 2026-27, registering nearly 11 per cent growth over the previous year. The Government is focusing on industry, agriculture, services, investment, infrastructure and employment while ensuring that the benefits of development reach every section of society.

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sh. Rajesh Nagar, addressing the 80th Independence Day function at Rewari after hoisting the national flag, said eight decades of India’s democratic journey have established the country as a strong, empowered and vibrant democracy.

He said India is moving rapidly towards self-reliance, innovation and economic growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to build a Viksit Bharat. He stressed the importance of youth participation and highlighted the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram as a symbol of India’s freedom consciousness and patriotism.

Sh. Rajesh Nagar said Haryana is committed to the welfare of martyrs’ families, with around 425 dependents of martyrs provided government jobs on compassionate grounds over the past nearly 12 years. He said the Shaheedi Smarak being constructed at Ambala Cantonment is nearing completion and will preserve the legacy of Haryana’s brave freedom fighters.

He also called for a drug-free Haryana, saying the State will intensify awareness efforts under the nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ campaign by involving youth, educational institutions, social organisations and all sections of society.

Minister of State for Sports, Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship and Law & Legislative Affairs, Sh. Gaurav Gautam, addressing the 80th Independence Day function at Palwal after hoisting the national flag, called upon the youth to actively contribute to nation-building and strengthen the unity and integrity of the country.

He said the State Government’s goal is to build a Viksit Haryana in line with Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat. By 2047, India should be developed, self-reliant and a leading global nation, while Haryana should emerge among the country’s most developed states. He envisioned a Haryana where farmers are prosperous, youth are self-reliant, daughters are safe and empowered, poor families lead dignified lives, and villages and cities develop equally.

Highlighting Palwal’s development, Sh. Gaurav Gautam said Shri Vishwakarma Skill University at Dudhola is creating new opportunities for skill development, employment and self-employment. The elevated road has improved traffic movement, while work is progressing on beautification, roads, sports facilities and other infrastructure. He said efforts would be made to develop an international-level sports stadium in Palwal, while the proposed medical college at Pelak would strengthen healthcare services. He also expressed hope that Palwal would get the Metro facility in the coming period.

He said Haryana’s sportspersons have brought laurels to the State and the country at national and international levels, and the Government is continuously strengthening sports infrastructure, training and opportunities. Schemes such as Super-100 and Government Model Sanskriti Schools are providing quality education and better opportunities to government-school students, enabling them to reach IITs, NITs and premier medical institutions.

The Minister said the Government is focusing on industry, MSMEs, employment and self-employment, with farmers, youth, women and the poor at the centre of development. Haryana is ensuring MSP procurement of 24 crops, while schemes including Lado Lakshmi are aimed at women’s empowerment. He also stressed the resolve for a drug-free Haryana and urged youth to stay away from drugs and channel their energy towards sports, education, skills and employment.

Sh. Gaurav Gautam paid floral tributes at the Shaheed Smarak and saluted the sacrifices of freedom fighters and martyrs. He said the Shaheedi Smarak being constructed at Ambala will inspire future generations. He also highlighted Haryana’s role in the 1857 uprising, recalling the spark of freedom that emerged from Ambala.
