MC Chandigarh intensifies Environment Week drive with cleanliness, plantation and waste segregation campaigns

Chandigarh, June 8:- As part of the ongoing Environment Week celebrations, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh launched a series of cleanliness drives, plantation activities, and extensive awareness campaigns on four-way waste segregation across various sectors and colonies of the city.

The initiative witnessed active participation from residents, councillors, market associations, and Municipal Corporation officials, all working together to promote environmental sustainability and civic responsibility. Teams from the Municipal Corporation conducted door-to-door awareness campaigns, reaching out to households, shops, and commercial establishments to educate citizens on proper waste management practices.

Residents and shopkeepers were sensitized about segregating waste into four categories—wet waste, dry waste, domestic hazardous waste, and sanitary waste—to ensure effective processing and scientific disposal. Citizens were also encouraged to reduce the use of single-use plastics and adopt eco-friendly alternatives.

To motivate greater public participation, individuals and families consistently practicing waste segregation at source were recognized and appreciated for their contribution towards maintaining a cleaner environment. Their efforts were showcased as model examples for the community.
In addition, plantation drives were organized at multiple locations across Chandigarh, where saplings were planted to enhance green cover and strengthen environmental conservation efforts.

The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh appealed to all residents to actively support cleanliness initiatives, practice waste segregation diligently, and contribute towards making Chandigarh a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable city for future generations.
