Chandigarh, 26 May: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised an Internship Orientation Programme for Semester II and Semester IV students from various disciplines to familiarise them with the internship framework under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the guidelines of Panjab University, Chandigarh. The programme was conducted by Dr Nitasha Khehra, IQAC Co-Coordinator, and Dr Minakshi Rana, NEP Coordinator of the college.
The session highlighted the significance of internships in fostering experiential learning, multidisciplinary exposure, and skill development among students. Participants were informed about the mandatory internship categories, including Internship for Enhancing Employability (IEE), Internship for Developing Research Aptitude (IDRA), and Community Outreach Activities. Detailed information was shared regarding internship duration, appointment of internship supervisors and mentors, maintenance of daily and weekly activity logbooks, and the overall internship process in accordance with Panjab University norms. Students were advised to maintain regularity, discipline, and active participation throughout the internship period. The role of internship supervisors in monitoring student progress, obtaining feedback from mentors, and conducting final evaluations was also explained. The programme further assured students of institutional support in identifying suitable organisations for internships.
Officiating Principal Ms Neena Sharma stated that the orientation programme served as a significant step in preparing students for professional, academic, and community-based learning experiences, thereby enhancing their employability and holistic development.
