Chandigarh, 12 May: Geetanjali Counselling Helpline Committee and Hostel Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, under the aegis of Directorate of Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration, and Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, organised a digital wellness initiative titled ‘Sunday: Say No to Mobile Campaign’ to address the growing concern of digital addiction among youth.
The initiative, aimed at nearly 600 hostel residents, sought to create awareness about the adverse impact of excessive screen time on mental and emotional well-being. Students were encouraged to “unplug” from their devices and observe a “digital detox” hour to improve concentration, emotional balance, and interpersonal engagement with peers. As part of this institutional digital wellness drive, students participated in mindfulness and meditation sessions designed to alleviate stress and anxiety. They also took a pledge to use digital technology responsibly by making conscious choices regarding screen time, minimising unnecessary digital distractions, taking regular social media breaks, and engaging in meaningful activities that nurture mental well-being and healthy social interaction.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma lauded the efforts of the organising committees for sensitising students to the harmful effects of technology addiction and for promoting practical strategies to strengthen mental health and holistic well-being among the youth.
