MAHENDERGARH, 09.05.26-Central University of Haryana celebrated World Red Cross Day with great enthusiasm and commitment to humanitarian values. The programme was organized by the University’s Youth Red Cross (YRC) Wing. In accordance with this year’s theme, “Keeping Humanity Alive,” various service-oriented activities were conducted across the university campus.

On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar extended his greetings to the university fraternity and volunteers. He stated that World Red Cross Day inspires people to serve humanity selflessly during difficult times such as wars, disasters, and pandemics. He urged students to cultivate compassion and empathy within themselves in order to contribute towards building a sensitive and responsible society.

The programme was attended by Dean Students’ Welfare Prof. Renu Yadav and Youth Red Cross Coordinator Dr. Dinesh Chahal. Dr. Dinesh Chahal informed students in detail about the life and struggles of Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross Movement. Prof. Renu Yadav encouraged young people to actively participate in social service activities and contribute positively to society.

During the programme, detailed discussions were held on the seven fundamental principles of the Red Cross—Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality. Speakers emphasized that these principles form the foundation of humanitarian assistance across the world and strengthen the spirit of peace and cooperation in society.

Dr. Dinesh Chahal further stated that the Youth Red Cross Unit continuously works towards developing the values of service, empathy, and social responsibility among university students. A large number of volunteers and students participated in the programme and pledged to imbibe the ideals of humanity and social service in their lives.
