CHANDIGARH, 09.05.26-The Department of Ophthalmology, Advanced Eye Centre, PGIMER, Chandigarh, is organizing "Retinoblastoma Awareness Week"
as part of
World Retinoblastoma Awareness Week from 10th to 17th May 2026 at the Advanced Eye Centre , PGIMER, Chandigarh.
The objective of this initiative is to spread awareness regarding early detection, timely diagnosis, treatment, and psychosocial support for children affected by retinoblastoma, the most common eye cancer of childhood.
As part of this awareness initiative, an RB Awareness Walk/Rally is being organized on:

* *Theme:* Early detection and timely treatment of retinoblastoma
*Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh, has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest for the walkathon.* The walk aims to create public awareness about the early signs of retinoblastoma, especially white reflex in the eye, squint, and poor vision, and to emphasize the importance of timely consultation with an eye specialist. The activity will include an awareness walk involving retinoblastoma survivor patients, children currently undergoing treatment, parents, doctors, staff, patient attendants, and the general public, along with distribution of informational material and a planned nukkad natak/street play to engage the public.
Doctors and representatives from GMCH-32 Chandigarh, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali, GMSH-16 Chandigarh, Civil Hospital Sector 6 Panchkula, along with faculty, residents, nursing staff, and support staff of PGIMER will be part of this rally .
