Karnal, April 13, 2026-A grand program was organized by the Regional Centre Karnal of Indira Gandhi National Open University on the occasion of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act 2023. The event aimed to promote women empowerment.
On this occasion, Regional Director Dr. Dharam Pal shared details about the program and stated that the event was organized to encourage and strengthen women empowerment.
The Chief Guest of the program was Ms. Shalini Narang (Principal, Dyal Singh Public School). The program began with an introduction of the Chief Guest by Deputy Director Dr. Amit Kumar Jain. This was followed by a warm welcome, where women staff members of the Regional Centre Karnal and Block Coordinator Praveena presented a bouquet to the Chief Guest.
In his welcome address, Dr. Dharam Pal described the Nari Shakti Vandan Act 2023 as a significant step towards women empowerment. He expressed confidence that increased participation of women in politics and administration would help them achieve new heights in society. He further stated that the Act is an important move towards increasing women’s representation in Parliament and State Legislative Assemblies.
While addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Ms. Shalini Narang said that providing 33% reservation to women would prove to be a transformative decision for the country. She highlighted the growing participation of women in politics and administration and motivated women, through inspiring examples, to step out of their homes, recognize their potential, and work towards achieving their goals.
Around 50 participants attended the program, including IGNOU students, women associated with various non-governmental organizations, and staff members of IGNOU. The program concluded with a vote of thanks.
