MC Chandigarh seizes 1215 Kg of banned plastic in major enforcement drive
Chandigarh, February 20:- In a significant crackdown against the use and storage of banned single-use plastic, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh conducted a special enforcement drive and confiscated a massive 1215 kilograms of prohibited plastic material from various establishments across the city.
The drive was carried out by a dedicated team of Sanitary Inspectors comprising Sh. Ashish Malik, Sh. Lokesh Meena, Sh. Mickey Gehlot, and Sh. Amar Rana, under the supervision of senior officials of the Sanitation Wing. The team conducted thorough inspections to ensure strict compliance with the ban on single-use plastic items as per Government norms.

MC Chandigarh conducts major anti-encroachment drive in Manimajra Sector-13; 7 cars impounded
Chandigarh, February 20:- In its continued efforts to ensure smooth traffic movement, public safety and encroachment-free roads, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today carried out a comprehensive anti-encroachment and enforcement drive in Manimajra, Sector-13.
During the drive, the enforcement teams took strict action against violations affecting road safety and pedestrian movement. A total of 7 illegally parked cars, found encroaching upon road berms and obstructing clear corridors, were impounded. In addition, tyres, jacks, rubbing machines and other repair-related equipment placed unauthorisedly on public land were seized and removed to restore the designated public spaces.
The drive also targeted illegal vending activities operating without permission. Unauthorised vendors were removed, and a total of 41 challans were issued to violators for encroachment, illegal parking and misuse of public spaces.
Such enforcement drives are being conducted regularly across the city to maintain urban order, improve traffic flow and safeguard pedestrian rights. The Municipal Corporation reiterated its appeal to residents, shopkeepers and vendors to adhere strictly to civic norms and avoid encroachments, failing which stringent action will continue.
