CHANDIGARH, 09.02.26-In order to promote the adoption of rooftop solar systems among residential households, the Chandigarh Renewable Energy, Science & Technology Promotion Society (CREST), Chandigarh Administration, is organizing Solar Awareness and Facilitation Camps under the flagship Government of India scheme PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.

These camps are being held from 10th February to 14th February 2026 at various prominent locations across the city to create awareness about the scheme and to provide on-the-spot assistance to citizens interested in installing rooftop solar power systems.

Key highlights of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana include:
• Central Financial Assistance (subsidy) of up to ₹78,000 for residential rooftop solar systems
• Low-interest bank loans at rates up to 6% ROI through participating banks
• Single-window facilitation by CREST for vendor selection, technical support, and grievance redressal
• Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of subsidy amount into beneficiaries’ bank accounts
