NDC Officers Call on Chief Secretary at UT Chandigarh Secretariat
Chandigarh, February 3, 2026:Officers of the 66th Course of the National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi, today called on Sh. H. Rajesh Prasad, Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh, at the UT Secretariat, Sector-9, as part of their study tour. Senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration were also present during the interaction.
Rear Admiral Sandeep Singh Sandhu, Faculty-in-Charge, NDC, briefed the gathering on the mandate of the National Defence College (NDC) and introduced the officers of the 66th NDC Course. He informed that the 46-week programme focuses on national security and strategic studies and is conducted through various thematic modules. The study tour has been organised as part of the course curriculum to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of India.
Sh. Diprava Lakra, Finance Secretary, UT Chandigarh, made a brief presentation outlining the historical background, administrative framework, and developmental profile of the Union Territory of Chandigarh for the visiting delegates.
During the interaction, the Chief Secretary shared insights on various administrative aspects of Chandigarh. He also underscored the role of the National Defence College in grooming senior officers for leadership responsibilities in national security, strategic planning, and public policy through integrated civil–military engagement. The Chief Secretary and the senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration clarified various queries put forth by the visiting delegates regarding the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
Officers from India and friendly foreign countries, including Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Nepal, shared their academic and professional experiences at the National Defence College during the interaction.

Chandigarh, 03.02.2026:A meeting to promote and strengthen sports activities in government schools of Chandigarh was held on February 3, 2026, at the UT Secretariat, Sector-9. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Prerna Puri, IAS, Secretary Education-cum-Sports, UT Chandigarh.
Mr. Nitish Singla, PCS, Director School Education, and Mr. Saurabh Arora, PCS, Director Sports, along with representatives of 12 sports associations of UT Chandigarh, were present during the meeting.
During the deliberations, detailed discussions were held on enhancing the active participation of sports associations in the promotion and development of sports infrastructure and facilities in government schools of UT Chandigarh. Special emphasis was laid on strengthening sports activities in peripheral schools through effective coordination among the Education Department, Sports Department, and various sports associations.
Representatives of volleyball, gymnastics, softball, weightlifting, handball, kabaddi, golf, gatka, table tennis, netball, football, and lawn bowls associations presented their proposals and shared suggestions for encouraging sports culture among school students.
