CHANDIGARH,09.02.2026: The 29th Punjab Science Congress successfully concluded after two days of high-impact sessions, plenary lectures, and presentations, emerging as a premier platform for scientific innovation, interdisciplinary research, and mentorship of young scientists. The Congress brought together over 1000 researchers, academicians, and students from India and abroad to showcase cutting-edge work in neuroscience, biomedical sciences, chemical sciences, environmental sustainability, physics, and technology.
The Congress highlighted pioneering research and practical solutions addressing contemporary scientific and societal challenges. Key presentations included Dr. Anil Kumar’s work on combination therapies for traumatic brain injury, Dr. Pavitra Ranawat’s research on the neuroprotective benefits of sea buckthorn, and Dr. Vijay Kumar’s studies on genetic susceptibility to tuberculosis, underscoring the role of personalized medicine and translational research.
The Congress also emphasized sustainable innovation. Experts, including Prof. Ganga Ram Chaudhary and Dr. Rajeev Kumar, presented eco-friendly technologies for industrial effluent treatment and green nanoparticle synthesis. Meanwhile, sessions on nanotechnology, digital health, and pharmaceutical innovations demonstrated the integration of science with societal applications.
International participation added a global perspective. Dr. Meenu Sharma (University of Manitoba, Canada) discussed cutting-edge TB diagnostics, Dr. Sikander Singh Gill shared innovations in drug safety technology, and Dr. Dulal Panda (NIPER Mohali) highlighted microtubule-targeted anticancer therapies.
The valedictory session featured distinguished dignitaries, including Dr. Ravinder Jhandu, delivering the valedictory address on research impact; Dr. Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and nurturing young talent; and Dr. James Mandigo, Vice Chancellor, University of Fraser Valley, Canada, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in research and innovation.
The Congress also celebrated emerging scientists through oral presentations and Young Scientist Awards, providing a platform for students and early-career researchers to showcase their work to national and international experts.
