Chandigarh 28th November-Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, President of the Chandigarh Traders Association, Sector 17, and Brand Ambassador for Solar City Chandigarh Administration, has expressed serious concern over Chandigarh’s slow progress under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
The Central Government has recently flagged the city’s performance in the private residential sector as unsatisfactory. Panchhi urged the citizens of Chandigarh to actively support the Administration and the Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society (CREST) by participating in the upcoming meeting with RWAs. The meeting, scheduled to be held at the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Sector 26, on 1st December 2025, aims to accelerate the adoption of rooftop solar systems across private households.
Panchhi further urged the Chandigarh Administration to expedite the long-pending RESCO Model proposal with the Ministry of Home Affairs. He noted that many applicants who have already submitted their forms are eagerly awaiting approval and are fully prepared for the installation of rooftop solar systems.
