Chandigarh, 22.11.2025— A Declamation Contest on the theme “Artificial Intelligence May Be Smart, But Books Make Us Wise” was organised today at T.S. Central State Library, Sector 17, Chandigarh, for students of private schools as part of the ongoing National Library Week–cum–Children’s Day Celebrations.

Students from various private schools of the tricity delivered powerful and thoughtful speeches, highlighting the balance between technological advancement and the timeless wisdom gained through reading. There were 36 participants for this competition.

The competition was judged by Col. Daljeet Cheema and Dr. Pratibha Jindal, both distinguished authors and motivational speakers. They praised the participants for their clarity of thought, expressive delivery, and mature understanding of the topic.
Col Daljeet Cheema also have a motivational talk to the students, mentioned particularly that we not use AI for homework purposes and Dr Pratibha said how critical thinking is important which vanishes with AI.

The event was organised under the guidance of Dr. Neeza Singh, Librarian, with support from Mrs. Neelam Bansal, Library Incharge.

The contest encouraged young speakers to reflect on the vital role of books in shaping intellect and character, even in an age driven by artificial intelligence.
