Chandigarh, 9 October: The Red Ribbon Club and Health Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, in collaboration with Motherhood Hospital, Mohali, organised an interactive session as part of the AIDS Awareness Campaign. The session aimed to sensitise students about women’s health issues and promote awareness regarding HIV/AIDS prevention, early diagnosis, and management.

The resource person for the session, Dr. Sunaina Bansal, Consultant Gynaecologist, Obstetrician and Laparoscopic Surgeon, shared valuable insights on maintaining women’s reproductive and general health. She elaborated on crucial topics such as menstrual hygiene management, the prevention and vaccination against Human Papillomavirus (HPV), and the role of physical activity in sustaining hormonal balance and overall well-being. Dr. Bansal also shed light on the Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society’s Intensified IEC Campaign, which seeks to enhance public understanding of HIV/AIDS through education, communication, and community outreach.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma highlighted that such interactive sessions are instrumental in empowering young women with scientific knowledge and self-awareness, fostering a sense of responsibility toward personal and community health. She further added that the college remains committed to organising meaningful initiatives that contribute to the holistic well-being and empowerment of its students.
