Ludhiana 08 August 2025-Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a webinar to sensitize the farmers about common pig diseases.

Dr. J P S Gill, Vice- Chancellor of the university, revealed that after bringing about the green and white (milk) revolutions, Punjab is now on the verge of another livestock revolution in the pig industry. The university is committed to provide all the technical guidance for this upcoming enterprise, said Dr Gill.

Dr R S Grewal, Director of Extension Education in his inaugural address stated that pig farming is becoming more and more popular across the board. Similar to other farming practices, this sector's expansion is also impeded by some obstacles, such as infectious diseases, parasitic diseases etc. but these obstacles can be surmounted with the right information, he added.

Dr Randhir Singh discussed the common diseases of pig, their symptoms and preventive measures in detail. Further queries of farmers were dealt on the spot.

Dr Jaswinder Singh, HoD Veterinary Extension Dept meticulously coordinated this webinar which lasted around two hours. The recording of this webinar will be available soon on the university YouTube channel "GADVASU Extension Services”. Dr Singh revealed that the university strives it’s best to disseminate the scientific practices among the stakeholders and is using all possible means. More than 50 pig farmers attended this webinar.
