Chandigarh, 10.7.2025 - A high-level meeting was held today between a delegation led by Sanjiv Chadha, President of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, and Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT Chandigarh. The meeting discussed key issues related to trade and traders in the city.
The delegation, comprising Diwakar Sahoonja, Vice Chairman; Raj Kishore, General Secretary; and Varinder Gupta, Advisor, presented a memorandum to the Administrator, highlighting strategic measures to stimulate commerce and trade in Chandigarh for sustainable economic growth.

- One-Time Settlement of old VAT cases
- Need-based changes in building bye-laws governing commercial buildings
- Making Chandigarh a Green City and Entertainment/Retail Hub of Northern India
- Proposal for a Trade Board to permanently look after commerce in the city
The Chandigarh Beopar Mandal delegation emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to unlock the city's immense commercial potential and make it a vibrant, inclusive, and business-friendly urban center.
The Administrator assured the delegation of his support in implementing the proposals and working towards the growth and development of the city's trade and commerce sector.
