Major Boost for BJP in Malerkotla: Former SGPC Member and Senior Akali Leader Ajit Singh Chandurayan Joins Party Along with 60 Key Local Leaders
Chandigarh, November 5-The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received a significant political boost in Malerkotla district today as senior Akali leader, former State Information Commissioner, and former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member Ajit Singh Chandurayan formally joined the party along with a large group of associates.
At a joining ceremony held at the Punjab BJP headquarters in Chandigarh, State President Kewal Singh Dhillon welcomed Chandurayan and his supporters into the party fold by handing over primary membership slips. Along with Chandurayan, around 60 influential grassroots figures from Malerkotla district—including sitting and former sarpanches, nambardars, and block-level representatives—formally entered the BJP.
Welcoming the new entrants, Kewal Singh Dhillon stated that Chandurayan’s vast administrative and socio-religious experience will significantly galvanize the party’s organizational base across Malerkotla and adjoining regions.
"The BJP’s caravan in Punjab is expanding every single day," Dhillon said. "Eminent personalities, grassroots leaders, and citizens from every section of society are placing their trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inclusive governance and development agenda. The growing influx into our ranks is a testament to the changing political tide in the border state."
Mounting a sharp offensive against the ruling dispensation, Dhillon remarked that during its four-and-a-half years in power, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had reversed Punjab’s growth trajectory rather than steering it forward.
"The state has been pushed into a deep morass of rampant drug trade, gang violence, daylight extortions, and complete administrative paralysis. Law and order has collapsed to a point where citizens no longer feel secure even inside their homes. Whether it is traders, farmers, state government employees, or unemployed youth, every section has been pushed to the wall by false promises," Dhillon added.
Underlining the road ahead, the Punjab BJP President asserted that only a decisive "double-engine government"—with matching development agendas at the Centre and in the state—can restore peace, revitalize industry, create dignified employment for the youth, and lead Punjab back to prosperity.

Punjab PCS Mains Result ‘Rigged’: Kewal Dhillon Demands HC-Monitored CBI Probe, Immediate Stay on Interviews
Chandigarh, November 5-Punjab BJP State President Kewal Singh Dhillon today flagged grave irregularities in the recently declared results of the Punjab Civil Services (PCS) Mains examination, terming it a massive scam that has compromised the future of thousands of deserving aspirants. Dhillon demanded an immediate, time-bound investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) under the direct supervision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Highlighting glaring discrepancies in the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) results, Dhillon pointed out that roll numbers belonging to candidates who were reportedly absent from the examination have surfaced in the shortlist of qualified candidates.
"It defies all statistical probability and administrative logic that 10 to 11 candidates from a single examination room, and as much as 24.21% of total successful candidates from a single examination centre, have cleared this premier competitive examination," Dhillon remarked. "This brazen rigging completely shatters Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s high-decibel claims of transparent governance and merit-driven recruitment."
Dhillon demanded that the state government and the PPSC immediately address the following:
- Put On Hold Disputed Results & Interviews: The entire selection process and forthcoming interviews must be stayed immediately until an independent probe concludes.
- HC-Monitored CBI Inquiry: A court-monitored CBI investigation to uncover how roll number series were clustered and whether evaluation protocols were compromised.
- Comprehensive Forensic Audit: A thorough forensic examination of examination centre CCTV recordings, invigilators' attendance registers, seating charts, and original answer sheets.
Dhillon concluded that after making hardworking aspirants wait for 22 long months, serving them an orchestrated process is a cruel betrayal of Punjab’s educated youth. He stated that the BJP stands firmly with the aggrieved candidates and will not permit the state government to play with merit and transparency.

Calling 3% DA a 'Diwali Gift' is a Cruel Joke on Employees: Ashwani Sharma
Punjab government must stop playing with employees' rights; Dearness Allowance is an earned financial entitlement, not government charity
Chandigarh, November 5-Former Punjab BJP State President and MLA Ashwani Sharma strongly condemned the Punjab Government for releasing a meagre 3 percent instalment of pending Dearness Allowance (DA) and labeling it a "Diwali gift." He stated that Dearness Allowance is a constitutional and financial right of government employees, not government charity or a celebratory gift. He noted that failing to release full DA dues on time is a grave injustice to the workforce.
Sharma said that instead of releasing negligible instalments and projecting them as major achievements, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's government must clear all outstanding arrears without delay.
Ashwani Sharma also raised the livelihood concerns of 253 teachers, the ongoing discrimination against contractual and special cadre teachers, and the denial of full pay scales to computer and NSQF educators. He added that ensuring minimum wages for mid-day meal, ASHA, and Anganwadi workers is the state government's fundamental responsibility.
He remarked that while lakhs of educated, unemployed youth continue to struggle on the streets for employment, the state government remains focused on self-serving advertisement campaigns. Demanding that the administration stop public-relations stunts, Sharma urged concrete steps to protect employee rights, guarantee regular employment, and fulfill all pending electoral promises. He asserted that the BJP stands firmly with government employees and teachers in their struggle for legitimate rights.

What is the difference between the hijacking of the PCS examination and the NEET paper leak case? Sunil Jakhar questions AAP
* Demands an impartial CBI investigation; says Punjab’s youth will decide whether the government is “kattar imandar” or “katter beiman”
* Accuses the Bhagwant Mann government of crushing young people’s dreams.
* Calls on PPSC to make public all subject-wise marks and cut-off details.
Chandigarh, November 5-Former Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar, raising questions over alleged irregularities in the PCS examination, asked the AAP government: “What is the difference between the hijacking of the PCS examination and the NEET paper leak case?”
He said that the delhi gang has subverted the entire examination process of a constitutional entity like PPSC. Jakhar said that allegations of malpractice in examinations were emerging one after another under the Bhagwant Mann government, and that the same pattern witnessed in the Naib Tehsildar examination was now being seen in the PCS examination. He demanded a CBI investigation, saying the AAP government had failed to bring even the previous investigation to a conclusion.
He further said that, pending a CBI investigation, interviews should be put on hold in accordance with the candidates’ demands, and every candidate’s subject-wise marks and all cut-off details should be made public.
In a lengthy message shared on social media, Jakhar wrote:
“What is the difference between the hijacking of the PCS examination and the NEET paper leak case?
“First came the paper leak in the Naib Tehsildar recruitment examination, followed by the paper leak in the recruitment examination for paramedical staff at Baba Farid Medical University. Now, the prestigious PCS examination has allegedly been hijacked through malpractice in the Punjab Public Service Commission’s (PPSC) mains examination. Let Punjab’s youth decide how this differs from the NEET paper leak case.
“The announced results of the PPSC mains examination have punctured the Bhagwant Mann government’s claims of providing jobs ‘without money or recommendations.’ “As many as 10 to 11 candidates have been selected from individual examination rooms. It has also emerged that a total of 86 candidates were selected in groups of three or four consecutive roll numbers. “Was this entire arrangement made when the roll numbers were issued? Were certain favoured candidates deliberately allotted consecutive roll numbers as part of a calculated conspiracy?
“In a prestigious competitive examination such as the PCS, how is it possible for nearly one-fourth of the candidates seated at a particular examination centre or in a few selected rooms to qualify, unless some ‘special method’ was adopted?
“The Bhagwant Mann government has faced allegations of similar malpractice in recruitment examinations in the past as well. “This concerns the dreams, hopes and future of Punjab’s youth.
“An investigation into the entire matter by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is essential so that the truth can emerge and all the facts can be placed before the public.”
