Chandigarh/Ambala, November 3: Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that all preparations have been completed for the inauguration of the memorial dedicated to the martyrs of the First War of Independence (1857). Union Home and Cooperation Minister Sh. Amit Shah will inaugurate this historic memorial on November 5 and address a massive public rally at Gandhi Ground in Ambala Cantonment. He said that thousands of people are expected to reach Ambala Cantonment to hear the Union Home Minister, as there is tremendous enthusiasm among the public about his visit and address.

Sh. Vij was interacting with media persons today. Later, he chaired a meeting with officials of Ambala Cantonment and issued necessary directions to ensure the successful organization of the November 5 programme.

Sh. Vij said that November 5 would be a historic day not only for Haryana but for the entire nation. He stated that the freedom struggle of 1857 was the First War of Independence, fought 28 years before the formation of the Indian National Congress. Unfortunately, this historic struggle and the supreme sacrifices made by numerous brave freedom fighters did not receive the recognition and place in history that they truly deserved.

He said that the memorial constructed in Ambala is the first of its kind in the country dedicated specifically to the First War of Independence of 1857. Through 22 grand galleries, the memorial brings alive the battles, historical events and struggles of freedom fighters from that era using modern technology. He added that the initiative aims to bring to light an important chapter of the freedom struggle that has not received adequate attention in mainstream historical narratives.

Sh. Vij said that while memorials dedicated to various wars and historical events may exist in different parts of the country, this memorial holds a unique and special historical significance as it is dedicated to the First War of Independence of 1857. He reiterated that all concerned departments and officials are working with full commitment to ensure the successful conduct of the November 5 programme.

Memorial Will Introduce the Younger Generation to India's Glorious History

Sh. Vij said that the First War of Independence of 1857 is one of the most significant chapters in Indian history. During this struggle, numerous brave sons and daughters of the country fought against British rule and made the supreme sacrifice for the nation's freedom. The memorial established in Ambala will not only pay tribute to the contributions and sacrifices of these brave martyrs but will also acquaint future generations with the history of India's freedom movement.

He said that the use of modern technology to present historical events at the memorial will provide the younger generation with a unique and engaging experience of understanding the freedom struggle. The memorial will serve as an important centre for preserving the country's invaluable heritage of history, valour, struggle and sacrifice.

Sh. Anil Vij said that the public rally scheduled for November 5 and the inauguration of the Shaheed Memorial are matters of great pride not only for Ambala but for the entire state of Haryana. He appealed to the people of the state to participate in this historic event in large numbers by reaching Gandhi Ground, Ambala Cantonment, and making the occasion a memorable one.
