Vidhan Sabha a Forum for Debate on Haryana’s Development, Not Sloganeering: Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini

Chandigarh, August 31 – Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, on Monday, said that every member must uphold the dignity of the House and use the forum for constructive debate on Haryana’s development and issues of public interest rather than sloganeering.

Responding to Leader of the Opposition Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda during the ongoing Vidhan Sabha session, Chief Minister described him as a senior and respected member of the House. He said there is much to learn from the experience of senior leaders like Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, while adding that their political journeys, perspectives and approaches are different.

The Chief Minister emphasised that he holds Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda in high regard and had no intention of disrespecting him.

He said that the remarks in question should be seen in the context of the complete proceedings. Opposition members, he said, had repeatedly raised slogans in the House when the focus should have been on issues concerning Haryana’s development.

The sloganeering continued even after the Vidhan Sabha Speaker offered the members an opportunity to view the relevant video in his chamber, said Sh. Nayab Singh Saini,

Clarifying his remarks, the Chief Minister said that Congress members had repeatedly accused the other side of “hooliganism”. His response, he said, was confined to stating that the “hooliganism” was not from his side but from theirs. Sh. Nayab Singh Saini maintained that he had said nothing beyond this and that his remarks contained nothing unparliamentary.
