MAHENDERGARH, 26.08.26-39th National Education Policy-2020 Orientation and Sensitization Programme was inaugurated at the Central University of Haryana, Mahendragarh. The programme is being organized by the UGC–Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) in academic collaboration with Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, Delhi. The inaugural session was conducted through an online platform and witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and academicians representing various institutions across the country.

The Chief Guest, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Haryana delivered the inaugural address and emphasized that NEP-2020 must be implemented beyond rules and guidelines. He highlighted the importance of developing lifelong learners through experiential learning, effective mentorship, internships, skill development, and practical exposure. He stressed that education should focus not merely on examinations but on employability, entrepreneurship, creativity, and the practical application of knowledge. He also emphasized language flexibility, vocational education, and active student participation in academic, cultural, sports, and technological activities. He urged educators to make NEP implementation a meaningful transformation in classroom teaching and student development. He further emphasized that NEP implementation requires transforming classroom practices, strengthening teacher-student mentorship, and encouraging active student participation. He highlighted that every student has unique potential, and teachers play a vital role in identifying, nurturing, and developing it.
The Guest of Honour, Prof. Vikram Bali, Director, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT), Delhi, addressed the participants and highlighted the transformative vision of NEP-2020, which promotes flexible, multidisciplinary, student-centric, research-driven, and technology-enabled education. He emphasized key areas including Indian Knowledge Systems, holistic education, academic leadership, inclusive education, research and innovation, ICT-enabled learning, and skill development. He stressed the importance of connecting academic learning with societal needs through meaningful student projects and internships. He expressed confidence that the programme would help educators translate the vision of NEP-2020 into effective classroom practices and wished all participants a fruitful learning experience.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Parmod Kumar, Director, UGC–MMTTC and Head of the Department of Teacher Education at the Central University of Haryana. He highlighted the significance this NEP Orientation and Sensitization Programme and emphasized the need to orient and train teachers for its effective implementation in higher education institutions.
Prof. Tanu Gupta, Deputy Director, UGC-MMTTC and Head, Department of English and Foreign Languages, Central University of Haryana, formally introduced the Chief Guest and highlighted his remarkable contributions to higher education and academic leadership.
After the address of chief guest, Dr. Nitin Sharma (Programme Coordinator) Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, Delhi, formally introduced the Distinguished Guest of Honour - Prof. Vikram Bali, Director, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT), Delhi.
The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks proposed by Prof. Vikas Garg, Dean SOET, (Programme Coordinator) Central University of Haryana, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CUH, Prof. Vikram Bali, Director, (MAIT), Delhi, Prof. Parmod Kumar, Director, UGC–MMTTC, CUH, Prof. Tanu Gupta, Deputy Director, UGC-MMTTC, CUH, Programme Coordinators, the distinguished resource persons, and all the participants for their enthusiastic participation and support in making the inaugural session a grand success.
