Chandigarh, 14 August 2026-The 40-Hour Community Mediation Training Programme, organised by the State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh, concluded today at the Chandigarh Judicial Academy, Sector-43, Chandigarh.

The training programme commenced on Monday, 10 August 2026 and concluded on Friday, 14 August 2026.

A total of 16 Community Mediators were trained during the programme. The objective of the training was to strengthen the mediation process at the village and community level so that local disputes can be resolved at the grassroots level itself.

The concluding session was graced by Sh. Arun Kumar Aggarwal, Additional District & Sessions Judge-cum-Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh, as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the participants, Sh. Arun Kumar Aggarwal stated that this was the 2nd Phase of Community Mediation Training. He said that training 16 Community Mediators would further strengthen mediation mechanisms in villages and communities. He added that the initiative would help resolve people’s issues at the grassroots level and promote harmony and peaceful dispute resolution in society. He termed the initiative as a significant step towards reducing the burden on courts and empowering communities.

The training was imparted by Adv. Manjit Kaur Kotia and Adv. Seema Pasricha, Certified Master Trainers empanelled with MCPC, Delhi. The trainers covered various aspects of mediation including communication skills, negotiation techniques, ethics and practical aspects of dispute resolution.

At the conclusion of the training programme, certificates were distributed to all participating Community Mediators.

SLSA, Chandigarh remains committed to expanding the network of trained Community Mediators across U.T. Chandigarh to ensure accessible and speedy justice at the community level.
