MC Chandigarh invites Contractors for Enlistment to ensure transparent registration process

Chandigarh, July 29: In a major step towards strengthening transparency, accountability and quality in the execution of civic development works, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh invites contractors for enlistment as per the Rules for Enlistment of Contractors in Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, 2023.

The rules establish a comprehensive framework for the enlistment, upgradation, revalidation and regulation of contractors undertaking works of the Municipal Corporation. They prescribe uniform eligibility criteria, documentation requirements and evaluation procedures to ensure that only technically competent and financially sound agencies are entrusted with Municipal Corporation projects.

As per the office order issued by the Engineering Wing, applications for enlistment shall be processed in accordance with the prescribed rules. The order also specifies the competent enlisting authorities and designated officers for submission and processing of applications relating to the Buildings & Roads (B&R), Public Health, Horticulture and Electrical wings.

The Rules for Enlistment of Contractors in Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, 2023 provide detailed provisions regarding classification of contractors, eligibility conditions, work experience, financial capacity, technical manpower, machinery and equipment, quality assessment, performance evaluation, renewal and upgradation of enlistment. They also prescribe standard application forms and supporting documents to ensure a transparent and uniform registration process.

The rules further require contractors to furnish details of completed and ongoing works, certificates of satisfactory performance, annual turnover, banker's certificate, net worth, statutory registrations and other supporting documents. Applicants are also required to disclose previous enlistments, litigation, debarment, near relatives employed in the department and other relevant information to strengthen transparency and accountability in the enlistment process.

The introduction of these rules will streamline the enlistment process, ensure equal opportunities for eligible contractors, improve the quality of public works and facilitate timely execution of development projects across the city.

The Engineering Wing has advised all agencies and contractors desirous of seeking enlistment with the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh to submit their applications strictly in the prescribed format along with the required documents as stipulated under the Rules for Enlistment of Contractors in Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, 2023.
