SHIMLA -13th July, 2026-Governor Kavinder Gupta today released the book 'Bhartiya Kala Lok Parampara Evam Sangeet Mein Ganga ka Prvaah authored by Prof. Vivekanand Tiwari.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that for the people of India, the Ganga is not merely a river but an enduring symbol of the country's ancient civilisation, culture and spiritual heritage. He observed that although the river has changed its course and form over the centuries, it has remained the life-giving force that has nurtured and sustained an entire civilisation through the ages.
Shri Gupta said that the Ganga represents eternity and purity and has occupied a revered place in Indian art, literature, mythology and cultural traditions. He added that generations of poets, artists and scholars have drawn inspiration from the sacred river, making it an integral part of India's cultural consciousness.
The Governor further noted that Gangajal continues to hold a place of great significance in Hindu religious rituals and life ceremonies. In Indian art, the Ganga has been depicted as a divine goddess and a protector, symbolising purity, compassion and spiritual awakening.
Congratulating Prof. Vivekanand Tiwari on publication of this book, Shri Gupta expressed confidence that the work would enrich reader's understanding of the Ganga's profound influence on Indian art, folk traditions and music, while inspiring greater appreciation for the country's rich cultural heritage.
