Chandigarh, July 9:- Acting on the directions of the higher authorities and in response to repeated complaints from the Shopkeepers' Association, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh conducted a special early morning enforcement drive against the illegal occupation of paid parking spaces by car dealers in the Motor Market, Sector 13, Manimajra.
The drive commenced early morning under the supervision of the Inspectors, Enforcement, along with three Sub-Inspectors and support from the local police.
During the operation, it was found that several car dealers had been illegally occupying Municipal Corporation paid parking spaces throughout the day, causing severe inconvenience to genuine visitors and customers. The enforcement team impounded 48 vehicles found parked in violation of the rules.
The violators were issued strict warnings against repeating such encroachments. The Municipal Corporation reiterated that paid parking facilities are meant for public convenience and that any misuse or illegal occupation of public spaces will invite stringent enforcement action.
Similar drives will continue across the city to ensure orderly parking management and protect public amenities.
