*Record Applications Received Under PM Surya Ghar Scheme; Haryana Receives Major National Recognition: Anil Vij*
*Haryana to Receive Three National Awards Under PM Surya Ghar Scheme; State Moving Towards Solar Self-Reliance: Vij*
Chandigarh, June 4 - Haryana Energy Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that the state government is working on a new scheme under which domestic consumers with a connected load of 1 kW will also be provided solar power systems.
He said the unique feature of the scheme would be that beneficiaries would not have to visit banks for loans or guarantees. Department officials would visit consumers’ homes, complete the necessary formalities, and facilitate the installation of solar systems on their rooftops. As a result, the electricity bills of such consumers would become nearly zero. He informed that more than 700,000 consumers in Haryana have electricity connections with loads of up to 1 kW and could benefit from this initiative.
Sh. Vij was responding to questions from media persons today.
He further said that a similar arrangement is being proposed for consumers with loads of up to 5 kW who regularly pay their electricity bills. Under this scheme, apart from the government subsidy, the remaining cost would be recovered from consumers through easy installments, and no bank loan would be required.
Similarly, Sh. Vij said that he had recently placed a proposal before Union Power Minister Sh. Manohar Lal. Under the proposal, farmers whose land remains vacant and whose family members live outside the village would be allowed to install solar plants on their land at their own expense. The government would then purchase the electricity generated at predetermined rates. This would provide farmers with an additional source of income while also promoting clean energy generation in the state.
He further informed that Haryana is set to receive three prestigious national awards today for the successful implementation of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. He said awards are not granted on recommendations but on the basis of performance, and governments always recognize those who deliver results.
Sh. Vij said that the Central Government has identified Haryana as one of the leading states in the field of solar energy. He added that the state government would intensify its efforts and continue working towards making Haryana completely self-reliant in solar energy.
Sh. Vij said that wherever he has been assigned responsibility in government, he has worked with full dedication and commitment. He noted that while handling important departments such as Health and Home Affairs, he achieved significant milestones and was honored by actor Amitabh Bachchan for his outstanding work in the Health Department. He added that, in the same spirit, Haryana is being recognized by the Central Government today under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
He informed that Haryana has received the highest number of applications under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The state government has set a target of installing 220,000 rooftop solar systems during the current fiscal year and is striving to achieve the target ahead of schedule.
Sh. Vij said that the Haryana Government is continuously working to make the state a national leader in solar energy. He emphasized that solar energy is the energy source of the future, as conventional resources such as coal, gas, and petroleum are limited. The government is focusing on maximizing the use of this renewable resource provided by nature to meet the state's growing energy needs.
He also informed that a large number of farmers in Haryana have installed solar pumps under the PM-KUSUM Scheme. Although the scheme’s portal has recently been closed, thousands of applications are still pending. These applications will be processed soon, and eligible farmers will be provided with solar pumps.

He further informed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a major transport company, Ashok Leyland, is likely to be signed within the next week.
Sh. Vij said that aspiring drivers often had to travel long distances to receive mandatory training required for obtaining driving licences. To address this issue, the government has initiated the establishment of a modern Driving Training & Research Institute in Ambala Cantonment. More than 11 acres of land have been identified and registered for this purpose at Shahpur. He added that vehicle fitness testing will also be carried out at the same location using advanced automated systems. This will significantly improve road safety and provide substantial benefits to people from Ambala and surrounding districts.
The Transport Minister stated that following the registration of the land, the establishment of the Driving Training & Research Institute and Automated Vehicle Testing Station will be expedited.
Sh. Vij further said that the project will create hundreds of direct and indirect employment opportunities. The institute will help thousands of young people from nearby districts enhance their driving skills and professional competencies through advanced training programs. In addition, the Automated Vehicle Testing Station will be capable of conducting fitness inspections of approximately 300 vehicles per week.
He emphasized that the Haryana Government is committed to making transport services more efficient, accessible, and technology-driven. Continuous efforts are being made to provide citizens with modern transport-related facilities and services through the adoption of advanced technologies.
*Benefits of the Driving Training & Research Institute (IDTR)*
The Driving Training & Research Institute (IDTR) is a specialized facility established to promote road safety and impart modern driving skills. Key features of the institute include scientific driver training, state-of-the-art simulators, automated driving tracks, and comprehensive courses for both light and heavy motor vehicles. The institute focuses on encouraging safe driving practices and reducing road accidents through professional training.
*Benefits of the Automated Vehicle Testing Station (ATS)*
Automated Vehicle Testing Stations use advanced automated machinery to conduct vehicle fitness inspections. After successful testing, vehicles are issued a Fitness Certificate, which is valid throughout India. Such testing helps reduce road accidents by ensuring that only roadworthy vehicles are allowed to operate. Vehicles that fail to meet safety and technical standards are not granted fitness certificates. The testing process evaluates all critical technical parameters of a vehicle to ensure compliance with prescribed safety norms.

Responding to a controversial statement by Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who reportedly said, "Either the Modi government will fall, or an Emergency will be imposed," Anil Vij said that no one in the country listens to Rahul Gandhi anymore, nor should anyone bother responding to him, because he says one thing in the morning and something else in the evening.

Vij said that what happens next is for the party high command to decide, but claimed that TMC and Mamata Banerjee have been completely finished in West Bengal.
