Chandigarh, 23 May: The Victory Against Drug Abuse (VADA) Club of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women marked a moment of pride during an award ceremony organised by Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi at the college campus. On the occasion, the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria unveiled the Annual Report of the VADA Club for the academic session 2025–26.
The report presents a comprehensive account of the wide-ranging activities undertaken by the club throughout the year under the campaign “Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh,” conducted as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan initiated by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The initiative reflects the institution’s continued commitment towards sensitising youth against the growing menace of substance abuse and promoting a healthy, value-based lifestyle.The annual report highlighted several impactful awareness and outreach programmes organised by the club to educate students about the harmful effects of drug addiction and the importance of physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The activities included awareness sessions, expert talks, interactive discussions, quiz competitions based on the theme of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, sports activities, yoga and meditation sessions, and mind programming workshops. Eminent academicians, counsellors, professionals, and subject experts from diverse fields were invited to motivate students towards making positive life choices and becoming socially responsible citizens.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma stated that the college remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing socially conscious and empowered youth. She emphasised that through consistent awareness initiatives and meaningful engagement activities, the institution aims to strengthen the resolve of students to become ambassadors of a healthy and drug-free society.
