CHANDIGARH,16.05.2026-National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER, Chandigarh celebrated the international Nurses day under the banner of SNAI and TNAI, UT Branch Chandigarh. Professor Ashok Kumar, Medical Superintendent, PGIMER graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Mrs. Jyoti Walia, President, TNAI, North Zone was the Guest of Honour at the occasion. Around 200 participants attended the Symposium on “GROOMING FUTURE NURSE LEADERS”, organized by the SNAI under the aegis of TNAI UT Branch Chandigarh. TNAI members from PGIMER, Chandigarh and GMCH-32, Chandigarh also attended the function. Mrs. Jyoti Walia, President, TNAI, North Zone and Guest of Honour focused on the facilities given by the TNAI to TNAI and SNAI members.

Dr. Sukhpal Kaur Professor cum Principal NINE, PGIMER, President of TNAI (UT) branch Chandigarh delivered the welcome address and spoke about the importance of grooming.. Dr. Sunita Sharma, Secretary, TNAI UT Branch Chandigarh unfolded the theme of the year “Our Nurses. Our Future: Empower Nurses, Save Lives”, which highlights the need to protect, respect and value the nurses for the role they play in the healthcare system.

The chief guest highlighted that the nurses are not only the future but the present as well. He highlighted that nurses are the pillars and backbone of the health care system and we cannot think of good medical care without competent and compassionate nurses. He ended his talk by saying that at PGI, we are having the best nurses in the country.

Dr. Sunita Sharma, Associate Professor, NINE; Ms. Shruti, Associate Professor, NINE; Ms. Mamta Suryavanshi, Tutor, NINE; Ms. Arti Saini, Nursing Officer, PGI & President, Nurses Welfare Association, PGI and Ms. Nisha, Nursing Officer, PGI and Chairperson Nursing Service Section, TNAI, Chandigarh deliberated on various topics related to the Symposium.
