Chandigarh, March 28:The air show at Sukhna Lake was witnessed by several distinguished dignitaries, including Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, along with his wife Smt. Anita Kataria; Professor Ashim Kumar Ghosh, Governor of Haryana, along with his wife Smt. Mitra Ghosh; Shri Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab, along with his wife Smt. Gurpreet Kaur; Shri Nayab Singh Saini, Chief Minister of Haryana, along with his wife Smt. Suman Saini; and Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Shri H. Rajesh Prasad, Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh, and Shri K.A.P. Sinha, Chief Secretary, Punjab, along with other senior officials of Chandigarh, Punjab & Haryana, were also present. They watched and enjoyed the ‘Suryakiran Aerobatic Display’ of the Indian Air Force and interacted with officials and spectators who had gathered in large numbers to see the performance. Their presence made the event more special and showed appreciation for the skill and professionalism of the Indian Air Force.
The Governor of Punjab, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, appreciated the skill, discipline and coordination of the pilots, stating that the performance reflected the professionalism and excellence of the Indian Air Force and inspired youth towards service to the nation.
The aircraft left behind trails in the colours of the national tricolour, creating a patriotic atmosphere and drawing loud applause from spectators. The Governor complimented the team for delivering an inspiring and memorable experience for the people of Chandigarh.
During the show, the aerobatic team performed a series of exciting aerial manoeuvres that thrilled the audience. The aircraft flew in well-coordinated patterns, demonstrating excellent teamwork and control. The pilots executed crossings, smooth separations, steep climbs and other eye-catching movements. They also performed loops, rolls, and flew in challenging positions, displaying great skill and confidence. The overall display was lively and entertaining, keeping spectators engaged throughout and highlighting precision and teamwork.
Shri Kataria also lauded the organizers and the administration for ensuring smooth arrangements for the event and expressed hope that such displays would continue to motivate young citizens to pursue careers in the armed forces.
The Suryakiran aircraft operated from 12 Wing, Chandigarh Air Base, and earlier conducted a two-day air show in Sujanpur, Himachal Pradesh, on 25 and 26 January. The AOC, 12 Wing, along with his team, jointly coordinated with the civil administration to make this show a success. The two-day air show was organized over Sukhna Lake, where the elite Surya Kiran team conducted a high-precision aerobatic display using multiple aircraft in close formation. The display was held during the morning hours and drew enthusiastic participation from students, families, and defence enthusiasts.
