Jalandhar27.03.26-; World Theatre Day was celebrated at Lovely Professional University by the Department of Theatre and Music along with the Division of Art and Culture, presenting a day of performances and discussions centred on theatre and its evolving relevance. At the centre of the celebration, students staged the award winning Hindi one act play ‘Marham’, presented by the Theatre Society, which held the audience in complete attention.

Enacted by a talented ensemble of nine students, the play unfolded as a poignant narrative rooted in themes of partition, memory, and human connection. Drawing from its evocative concept, the performance seamlessly transported the audience across timelines, portraying pain, longing, and hope with striking authenticity.

Addressing the occasion, Col. Dr. Rashmi Mittal, Pro-Chancellor of LPU, remarked that student potential finds direction when supported with the right platforms.Dr. Mittal emphasized that LPU continues to encourage students to pursue their passions wholeheartedly, drawing inspiration from such performances to contribute not only to their personal growth but also towards a greater societal good.

The programme also included a panel discussion on “Theatre and a Culture of Peace”, along with stage performances such as ‘Do Kaudi Ka Khel’ and ‘Abhi Ka Samay’, and a musical presentation, reflecting a broader range of student led creative expression.
