Jalandhar, 16.03.26-; Displaying incredible strength, skill and sporting prowess, Lovely Professional University (LPU) emerged as a powerhouse in women's boxing, securing the First Runner-up Trophy at the prestigious All India Inter University Women’s Boxing Championship 2025-26. The championship, held at LPU campus, witnessed massive participation, bringing together 162 universities from across India, with a total of 856 women boxers competing for national glory. The championship witnessed high octane bouts across ten competitive weight categories, with Panjab University securing the Overall Champion title, while Guru Kashi University claimed the Overall Second Runner-up position.

Amidst this fierce competition, the LPU contingent delivered outstanding performances. Naina secured a gold medal in the Women’s Light Heavy (75–80 kg) category, while Tamanna claimed gold in the Women’s Fly (48–51 kg) category. Nisha brought home a silver medal in the Women’s Welter (60–65 kg) category, and Savita Khatri earned a bronze medal in the Women’s Middle (70–75 kg) category. Adding further distinction to LPU’s performance, Tamanna was honoured with the Best Boxer of the Tournament Trophy for her exceptional technique, agility, and commanding performances in the ring.

Congratulating the athletes on their achievements, Dr. Col. Rashmi Mittal, Pro-Chancellor of LPU, praised the players for their discipline, resilience and competitive spirit displayed throughout the championship. Dr. Mittal encouraged them to continue striving for higher standards of performance while upholding the values of perseverance, teamwork and sportsmanship that shape true sporting excellence.
