Chandigarh, January 12, 2026:State Bank of India, Chandigarh Circle, today marked an important milestone with an opening of its Digital Banking Unit (DBU) at Sector 26, Panchkula, and the donation of a 32-seater bus to Panjab University under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The Digital Banking Unit was inaugurated by Shri Rama Mohan Rao Amara, Managing Director (Retail Business & Operations), State Bank of India, in the gracious presence of Shri Krishan Sharma, Chief General Manager, SBI Chandigarh Circle and other dignitaries.
This DBU features 24x7 self service facilities and is a specialised, technology-driven branch, established in line with RBI guidelines, with a focus on paperless, secure, and customer-friendly digital banking. It will enable customers to access a wide range of banking services efficiently with minimal cash handling. It will also function as a financial literacy and cyber security awareness centre, helping customers adopt safe digital banking practices. The unit is expected to play a vital role in enhancing customer convenience, improving service efficiency, and reducing dependence on traditional branch banking.
As part of bank’s commitment to the community welfare, a 32-seater bus was donated to the Directorate of Sports, Panjab University, to support the safe and efficient transportation of student athletes. The CSR initiative was undertaken in the august presence of Smt. Renu Vig, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
