Chandigarh, January 6:- Keeping in view the growing educational and community needs of local residents, the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, Sh. Amit Kumar, today visited the community centres at Mauli Jagran and Sunder Nagar to review the requirements for strengthening library services in these areas. He was accompanied by the Superintending Engineer (B&R) and the area councillors, Sh. Manoj Sonkar and Smt. Bimla Dubey.
During the visit, the Commissioner emphasized the importance of accessible library facilities for local residents, particularly school-going students. He directed the concerned engineering officials to prepare a comprehensive and well-structured plan to operationalize and efficiently run library services in both community centres. The objective, he stated, is to ensure that quality reading and learning resources are available to students and residents at their doorstep, thereby promoting education and a reading culture in the neighbourhoods.
In addition to reviewing library-related infrastructure, the Commissioner also inspected various ongoing and proposed development works in the area. These included projects aimed at strengthening basic civic amenities for residents. Expressing satisfaction with the intent of the works, the Commissioner instructed the concerned engineers to expedite the pace of development and ensure that all projects are completed well within the stipulated time frame, without compromising on quality.
The Commissioner further carried out an inspection of the surrounding areas from the perspective of Swachhata parameters. He directed the concerned officers to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in strict adherence to the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) guidelines, reiterating the Municipal Corporation’s commitment to a clean, healthy and citizen-friendly city.
