Chandigarh, 6 January 2026:The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, accompanied by the Chief Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, Shri H. Rajesh Prasad, and other officials of the Chandigarh Administration, today undertook a visit to Manimajra to review healthcare, education and public utility facilities, with a focus on citizen welfare and service delivery.

Civil Hospital, Manimajra
The Honourable Administrator was welcomed at Civil Hospital, Manimajra, by the Councillor. During the visit, doctors briefed him about the registration and payment windows, Emergency OPD, and the functioning of the emergency ward. The Honourable Administrator interacted with patients present in the emergency ward and enquired about their treatment and recovery status.
Thereafter, the Honourable Administrator reviewed facilities including the Surgery OPD and Orthopaedic OPD. He also visited the Labour Room, the Children’s Ward, Phototherapy Unit, and the Gynaecology Ward, where he interacted with patients, attendants and hospital visitors, and listened to their feedback regarding healthcare services. Doctors further briefed him about OPD operations and ABHA-related facilities.
The Honourable Administrator also reviewed sanitation arrangements. During the visit, the Administrator noted that the hospital is adequately catering to the local healthcare needs of residents.
During the visit, the Honourable Administrator said that, as public servants, such visits are undertaken not merely for inspection, but to regularly review public infrastructure and explore ways to further enhance facilities for citizens.

Government Model High School, Manimajra
At the Government Model High School, Manimajra, the Honourable Administrator was welcomed by Secretary Education, Ms. Prerna Puri, IAS, Chandigarh Administration. He interacted with students in smart classrooms and enquired about their academic progress.
Teachers briefed the Honourable Administrator about the Balvatika (pre-primary section), highlighting activity-based learning methods designed to help young children grasp concepts quickly and effectively.
During the visit, the Governor emphasized that activity-based learning methods benefit both senior and junior students by helping them grasp concepts quickly and effectively, and shared constructive suggestions with teachers, highlighting that greater focus on designing such activities can significantly contribute to improved learning outcomes and students’ academic growth.

Park, Indra Colony
At Park, Indra Colony, the Honourable Administrator was welcomed by Councillor. During the interaction, the Councillor highlighted the proposal for a dispensary near Park, Indra Colony and informed that the required land has already been allocated. The Honourable Administrator acknowledged the proposal and assured that the matter is under consideration of the Administration and that appropriate action will be taken in due course.
While reviewing the park, the Honourable Administrator was briefed about the water body/pond developed within record timing. Administrator suggested the installation of a fountain to enhance the park’s aesthetics and recommended proper fencing around the pond to ensure safety for children and visitors.
During the visit, the Governor said that parks provide citizens with refreshing and safe spaces, especially for children and the elderly, for recreation, walking and community interaction.
