CHANDIGARH, 24.12,25-The Legal Aid Clinic of the Department of Law at Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh in association with the Mahendergarh District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and the University’s own Drug Eradication Cell, organized a significant awareness programme on the menace of drug abuse.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Haryana, commended the collaborative initiative in his message, stating, “Partnerships with institutions like the District Legal Services Authority are crucial for impactful outreach. I applaud the Department of Law and all collaborators for steering this critical dialogue and motivating our youth to be agents of positive change in society.”
The event featured an insightful address by Dr. Ajai Pal Sharma, Convenor of the University’s Drug Eradication Cell, who sensitized students about the severe physical, legal, and societal repercussions of drug abuse. He urged the gathering to become messengers for this noble cause, empowering them to spread awareness within their communities. The session was graced by the presence of Dr. Prem Chand from the National Law University, New Delhi.
Presiding over the event, Dr. Pardeep Singh, Head and Dean of the School of Law, emphasized that “charity begins at home,” encouraging the student body to play a proactive role in eradicating this social evil. He stressed on the fact that drug abuse continues to adversely affect the nation’s demographic dividend.
