Chandigarh, November 23, 2025: The iconic Sector 17 Plaza came alive today as more than 1000 NCC cadets from the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of Chandigarh Group, under Brigadier VS Chauhan, presented a breathtaking two-hour cultural programme to mark the 77th NCC Day. The grand NCC Fete also commemorated the 150th anniversary of India’s National Song ‘Vande Mataram’ while delivering a powerful message against drug abuse.

The event was inaugurated by Maj Gen Bharat Maithani, Additional Director General, NCC Directorate (Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh) in the presence of distinguished guests and a large gathering of citizens. Gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest was popular actress, author, Youth Icon and Brand Ambassador of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan for the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Ms Samaira Sandhu.

Through a vibrant blend of patriotic songs, energetic dances, hard-hitting Nukkad Natak and thought-provoking skits, the cadets enthralled the audience from start to finish, earning thunderous applause at every performance. The flawless execution of the programme reflected the discipline, dedication and creative excellence that the NCC instills in its cadets.

Speaking on the occasion, Maj Gen Bharat Maithani praised the cadets for their outstanding presentation and emphasized the critical role of youth in building a drug-free and strong India. Ms Samaira Sandhu interacted with the cadets and the audience, inspiring them to say a resolute “No” to drugs and become ambassadors of a healthy and progressive society.

The event successfully reinforced the twin messages of national pride and zero tolerance towards substance abuse, leaving the audience inspired and energized.
